1948 GMC FC102 PICKUP TRUCK This beautiful pickup has been lovingly restored, driven, and enjoyed by just ONE owner over the past 13 years. It is a great looking, great driving, and exceptionally clean pickup that is ready for a new owner. CALL ME AT 941-286-0889 WITH QUESTIONS. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DETAILED!!! IT HAS BEEN WASHED, VACUUMED, AND WIPED DOWN WITH TURTLE WAX QUICK SHINE PRIOR TO BEING PHOTOGRAPHED. OVERVIEW In a market where Classic Trucks are reaching stratospheric heights in pricing, sometimes it is difficult to find a clean, solid, and reliable 47-53 model if your last name isn’t Rockefeller! This beautiful 1948 GMC pickup is not only affordable, but is an exceptional driver with show quality looks, and all the right goodies to make it turn heads at every corner. Please take a moment to read the listing, look over the 100 extra-large detailed photos, and then call me to make it yours before someone else does it first! THIS VEHICLE HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE IN OUR POSSESSION, AND IS READY FOR SALE AND EXPORT WORLDWIDE. FOR VEHICLE FINANCING, APPLY ONLINE AT: WWW.JJBEST.COM WWW.LIGHTSTREAM.COM DESCRIPTION We purchased this truck from the family of the previous owner, and they bought it in Texas back and did a complete, photo documented cab and bed off frame restoration between 2011 and 2012,and when finished, used it as an almost daily driver for errands and Home Depot trips, as well as a Car Show cruiser. It comes with a complete photo book of the entire restoration process, as well as a thick stack of receipts and associated paperwork on the build, plus an original owner’s manual for the truck!!!! The all steel body is in exceptionally good condition all the way around, and based on the thickness of the sheet metal, the photos included of the original truck, and the included documentation and photos of the restoration, I believe it to be all original panels. There is no sign of rot, rust through, or fiberglass on the truck, and 4 inch square felt covered magnet will stick like glue ANYWHERE on the body. Looking through the restoration photos and receipts, you can see where it was completely stripped to solid, bare metal before being prepped for paint. Fit and gaps are better than when it was new, and on par with trucks costing substantially more! The two-tone cream and brown exterior finish is glossy and shiny all around, and the paint shows very well, with only the normal blemishes like stone chips, scuffs, and other things that you will find on something that was actually driven and used, not trailered. Look at the 100 EXTRA LARGE photos. You can see that it doesn’t have any damage or issues other than that. Worst marks are inside the bed walls, from (GASP!) the prior owner putting things in it like it was a truck, and scuff and crack on the roof from a rock thrown by a car in front of it on the Interstate. It, like a few of the other minor marks, has been touched up by the prior owner as needed. Bright work and chrome on the truck is in overall above average condition, with a clean grill that shows only some light dings in it, issue free headlamp rings, new marker lights, new fog lights, original hood emblem with light patina, clean stainless steel windshield splitter, new polished wiper arms and blades, beautiful door handles, clean door lock cover and fuel cap, and a very nice driver side polished mirror with black base. All of the glass is good on the truck, with no cracks or chips evident. New tail lamps work perfectly, as does the frame mounted Reese style box hitch with wiring harness. As I said earlier, the truck was actually driven, and towed either a small utility trailer or a Coca-Cola cooler trailer depending on what day of the week it was! Front and rear bumpers are painted to match, and look fantastic. Bed wood is a treated and water-proofed hardwood that is in exceptional condition with no cracks, splits, warped areas, or soft spots. The side rails were made from the same wood, and everything has stainless hardware which shows a light patina on it from use. Cab forward section of the rails has a painted on 1948 GMC logo in matching colors to the truck. It rides on painted to match wagon wheels with polished trim rings and center caps and new lug nuts in shiny chrome. The wheels are wrapped in newer FIRESTONE Destination LE radial tires size P255/70R16 with at least 75% of the useable tread remaining. A spare with vinyl back cover is mounted on the driver side, but it is not a matching tire, and is on a steel rim. Inside, the doors have the OEM style panels with armrests and clean window rollers and door pulls. Factory bench seat has been re-stuffed and covered and looks and feels great! Factory style headliner is in good condition, and the twin sun visors look and function like they should. Chrome rearview is a newer addition and looks excellent. Locking glovebox works like it should, and has the correct cardboard liner. Factory style carpeting is clean and neat, and dresses it up a little more than a rubber mat would. Factory style pedals are all in great condition and work perfectly, including the push start! Original shifter works like it should, and has easy throw. Factory heater box is intact and functions. Ashtray opens and closes, and the 12Volt outlet works too! Original vacuum wipers were replaced with a two speed electric system. Pulls for the choke and headlamps do what they should. New key switch works perfectly. Factory column is topped by an original wheel with light patina for its age, and it steers great! Refurbished gauge panel and speedo panel look fantastic. A modern stereo was installed with AM/FM/WMA/iPod/MP3/USB functionality and two under dash speakers that sound great! Battery is recent, and is located under the floor in the original battery bin with locking cover. Open the hood, and the entire engine bay is clean, neat, and finished. Fender wells, firewall, and front segment are all painted in finished and waxed body color. Engine is painted and looks clean, but since it has been driven, it does show light signs of normal use like dirt, wear, and grime. A re-cored radiator keeps things cool, even in the hot Florida summers, and the auxiliary temp gauge under the dash never creeps past 210 even when sitting at idle in beach traffic for 20 minutes! Normally, it holds temp at about 194 under day to day use. Wiring is clean and neat, and everything works like it should under the hood. The block is a 3835499 engine number, which according to what I’ve researched could either have been a 235 or a 216. The family of the prior owner didn’t know, but the assembly tag on the engine shows it to have a 50-52 216 head, so I am going to say it is probably a 216CID motor. It starts easily, needing only a little choke if it sits for a few days without use. Idle is clean and flat, and it does not smoke. Snick the 4-speed manual into gear, and let up on the clutch, and it pulls away with ease. 1st gear is a stump puller, and the truck handles 2nd gear starts easily. This is NOT an interstate cruiser! The truck is fantastic for around town use, but is gear ratio limited to a GPS verified 55-65mph. 70 is ok for a short spurt, but you wouldn’t want to drive it all day like that. The truck is riding on 8-lug 3600 axles with a 4.10 ratio, so at 60mph it is putting the RPM at about 2800 with the 30” diameter tires it currently has. It may not win a cross-country race, but it gets around town perfectly, and has enough grunt to actually be used as a truck, which is what the prior owner/builder used it for. It drives great, and doesn’t have the typical see-saw washed out feel you’d expect to find. With the modern radial tires, handling is straightforward, lane changes don’t require a change of underwear, and turns are easy even at parking lot speeds. Drum brakes all around are cleaned and adjusted to perfection, and scrub off speed without any abnormal fade, pulling, or wander. Shifts are clean, and you’ll quickly refresh your mind on double-clutch techniques after a few shifts! The chassis on the truck is clean and neat and solid. It is NOT something you will put over mirrors at a car show, but it is rot and rust free, and clean and easy to service. Just what you want from a truck you can actually drive! It comes with a box full of extra parts that were given to me by the prior owner’s family, including both old and new items, and some service spares and other goodies. It will ship inside the bed of the truck when you buy it. You will also get the full photo book showing the restoration process, the original owners manual and dealer brochure, and the aforementioned stack of receipts for parts and work done to the truck. That’s about all I can tell you about it. It is a show quality truck that people LOVE to see at a cruise night or regional event. It is reliable enough you can use it every day.
