GMC Other 1966 Description

For Sale: 1966 GMC 1000 Fleetside Custom pickup. I am the third owner of the vehicle. I purchased thetruck 14years ago from an individual in Grand Junction CO who bought it from the original owner’s Estate (also in Grand Junction). Thesecond ownerdid not use or alter the vehicle but offered itfor sale shortly after purchase. At the time I purchasedthe vehicle it had been out of use for 25 years and had just under 40000 miles. The gas tank required cleaning the fuel filter and pump needed to be replaced but it was in otherwise very good running condition. I have since used the truck regularly as a work vehicle it now has just under 106000 miles.

The truck is equipped with a 305 V6 engine and 4 speed manual transmission. It has been an excellent work truck. While I’ve owned the vehicle I’ve removed and cleaned the gas tank (added an in-tank filter) replaced the fuel pump/filter carburetor heater corewater pump clutch battery tires and performed regular maintenance. The truck runs very strong steers straight and starts reliably even in extreme temperatures. It is in very sound mechanical condition. The tires are relatively new (less than 2000 miles). The exhaust is in need of replacement.

It would be a very good vehicle to continue to use as a regular work truck and would also be an excellent candidate for restoration. All major components are original. The paint is the original paint very faded with substantial surface rust as appears in the photos. There is rust through at the bottom of both front fenders all other panels are reasonably sound. The original wood bed is deteriorated but still in place under the steel diamond plate sheet that was installed by the original owner.

The interior is in relatively good condition. The bench seat needs to be reupholstered. The dash contains an aftermarket radio that is functional the original radio delete plate is inculded. Lights heater and gauges are functional. The water temperature gauge works intermittently. Glass is scratched but unbroken. Included are the original owner’s manual and paperwork/receipt file.

All in all agood sound vehicle for daily use or restoration.

The truck is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction early upon prior sale. Please contact me with questions. Good luck with bidding. Thank you.
