GMC Other 1969 Description

1969 GMC CUSTOM 1500 PICKUP
99% original GMC 1/2 ton pickup truck. This truck runs and drives and will make a nice project for someone. It has power steering and brakes, nd 12-bolt positraction rearend. Broadcast sheet still in the glovebox. Original matching #'s 350 engine. The truck has some rust, ut not bad for the year. It drives nice and straight down the road. These 1967-1972 gm pickups are popular for restoration and tons of reproduction parts are available. Pretty much anything you'd need. I would personally drive this as-is and rod it, ut it would be a good restoration project also. The possibilities on these trucks are endless and you can find 1000 pictures online of others restored in various ways. They look great with a pro-tour/restomod restoration. Feel free to ask questions. I HAVE MORE PICS I CAN SEND. I did also include a pictures of a similar restored trucks here so you can see what this truck could look like. There are a lot of cool possibilities. if your interested in doing something early on it, ust email me. I can talk via phone also. Just send your number. Thanks.
MECHANICAL
This truck has the original WK code 4-barrel 350 small block V8. This is an original turbo-400 truck and the truck currently has a turbo 400 but I have not checked the numbers. It most likely is the original transmission. Rearend is a 12-bolt posi, nd it works as it should. This has power steering and power brakes. No air. The motor runs good. It could use a tuneup and maybe a carb rebuild. The usual tuneup stuff. I think a cam/intake/headers/ etc. would really liven it up. The engine starts nice, oesn't knock or tick, oesn't overheat. It smokes when cold. It seems to go away when warm, ut I think it needs the heads or at least valve guides redone. No oil in water or water in the oil. It needs some new gaskets or they need tightening. It has the usual old rig seeping. I would do a basic rebuild on the engine myself, ut I don't think it's necessary. It depends on what you want to do I guess. The truck drives nice and straight down the road. No vibrations, andering, r pulling. It's surprisingly tight. Hubcaps aren't included. I borrowed them off another truck for the pics. It has chrome mooney wheels on it. The gauges all work. Power steering works nice. Brakes work fine but power booster seems a little weak. It's completely usable though. I've used the truck many times for dump runs. Headlights don't work. I'm pretty sure it's the dimmer switch but not sure. Old rigs from this era rarely have headlight problems and the only ones I've had do this, ad dimmer switch problems. Parking lights, urn signals and brake lights work but needs a couple bulbs. Original radio is gone.
INTERIOR
The interior is actually in pretty clean shape for an unrestored truck this old. Seat is really pretty nice. It is comfortable and springs aren't crushed. Door panels and dash are in good condition. Floormat looks original and is not nice, ut usable. Gauge area is pretty clean. This truck was not cutup. Original radio is gone.
BODY
The body is very straight overall. The black marks on the drivers side of the box are not dents. It does have the usual 1967-1972 chevy rust but is less than most of this vintage, specially if your in a salt area. I have several undercarriage photos also in a link I can send. Body: Inner and outer rockers have rust. Cab corners also have the usual rust through. Box has rust behind rear wheel on the lip. Not on the passenger side. Drivers box also has small rust spot in skin behind the cab corner. This is about 1"x1". A super easy repair. Front fender are pretty nice but have rust in front low corners. They probably make patch panels. Box floor is the metal version and is solid. Inner fenders front and rear look nice. Floor pans are nice, ith exception of the edge that meets the inner rocker. Frame, ood, oors, eader, irewall, rip rails, ailgate, owl, tc. have no rust through. Frame rust is almost non-existent in this area. This pickup most likely never saw salt on a road before. The roads weren't salted here until the last few years, nd that is sporatic and usually only in severe weather. Windshield is new and has tint. That's a nice bonus. Door windows and wing windows operate as they should. Frame is NOT cut in the back. The bumper mounts were just cut off.
OVERALL
This is a solid truck that is unmolested. It's a great candidate for an original restoration, r fix it up however you like. Thanks and happy bidding. Sold as-is.
