GMC Suburban Carrier 1955 Description

1955 GMC Town & Country.
In 55 these were called a Town and Country and then changed to calling it a Suburban Carrier. Same Bed as theChevy Cameo Pickup.
These were built by GMC as a promotional truck to get people into the showrooms. You can read all over the internet that they only built 300. Untrue. They are much more rare than the Cameo but actual GMC production figures from this era are unknown for any model GMC.
This truck is has clear CA title as a 1956. Probably because it was late year production and sold in 56.
The truck has a 57 grill and bumper bullets on it, but it is 55 (based on vin) and I have the original grill and bumper included with the truck. Also included is the 1955 only chrome filler grill pieces that go under the "mustache". (see photo)
This truck original came with many options, deluxe trim on a big window cab, Factory visor, fresh air heater, Chrome Hood Bird, Radio, Clock (working) Hydramatic Auto trans, Pontiac 288 V8 Motor.
The 288 and hydramatic have been replaced with a fresh Pontiac 400/ 400 from a firebird. Also the Firebird rear end is in the truck (5 lug). The motor runs strong and smooth. Truck is very fast andpowerful. Fun to drive.
It is very a very tight truck withoutsqueaks and rattles.
Dual Flowmasters sound great.
The truck has a drop front axle with disk brakes up front, Dual master cylinder with proportioning valve.
It is running its factory wiring harness and everything works. Even the light on the original shift indicator. The 400 trans is hooked to the factory hydramatic linkage.
Good BFG Tires, near new. It smokes the tires easily.
Good original glass all the way around.Factory green tint with some scratches.
So before this truck was customized it was a very cherry original truck with EXCELLENT RUST FREE BODY. All factory body panels with very little body work if any ever. The green paint is still under the "hot rod black satin paint".
Still has spare tire carrier under bed.
Most of the chrome is original and unrestored. There is one piece on front of bed down low that is not on truck but I do have it. 100% plus complete.
This is a turn key truck that is a daily driver currently. Clean CA title in my name on Hagerty insurance. Can be driven anywhere today.
I can hold the truck for 30 days while transportation arrangements are made.
