AM General JEEP DJ5 "A Bit Gassy!" 1979 Description

This Gasser is located in Northeast Texas. 75630 please be sure of my location before contacting me. Long distance delivery is available. Or, simply drive it home.
I have an absolute one of a kind hot/street/rad rod. This Jeep is totally unique and draws a crowd wherever it goes. You will be driving something that no one else has. It is completely functional and EVERYTHING works! (all lights: dash, floor, dome, shifter, headlights, running, brake, turn signals, back up lights, cab clearance lights, license plate light, 2 speed heater, 2 speed windshield wipers, super loud horn, speedometer, STRONG oil pressure, volt meter, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge) EVERYTHING!
I bought this low 74,000 original mile mail Jeep and built it into the 60's style gasser that you see here. It was 100% bone stock, and had been parked since 1996. It hadn't been driven in over 20 years. I brought the Jeep home, changed the fluids, put in new spark plugs, drained the gas tank, and put in fresh gas and a hot battery, and it fired RIGHT UP! It runs strong and as smooth as a sewing machine, makes great power, and has no smoke or engine noises. Silky smooth!I recently had $1,100 in parts and service on the vehicle.
The Jeep starts, runs, drives, steers, shifts and stops fantastically. It drives straight and true and literally drives with 1 finger. All lights work perfectly and are clear and bright! All 3 door locks work properly, and are keyed alike. All glass is EXCELLENT with NO rock chips or cracks. All doors open and close smoothly with no binding. The transmission is smooth and positive shifting. This little custom cruiser gets 25 MPG! (factory 151 ci iron duke 2.5L with 3 speed auto transmission) With its cool patina paint, custom suspension, aluminum front tank, and 1 of a kind style, you are GUARANTEED to never see another one like it! And for $5,500 you are never going to buy a: great running, completely custom, unique, and STRAIGHT classic car. You can drive THIS Jeep all week to work and back, and to your favorite cruise night on Saturday! Try THAT with other $5,500 vehicles. Not going to happen. Or, you can put the mail tray back in and deliver mail in this right hand drive rhd postal jeep. It's route ready! Are you a big chunky-chunk? No sweat; these doors offer tremendous ease of access. And with 3 super air-sucking vents, you can pull in a serious amount of fresh air. The doors lock in the open or closed positions, so you can cruise down the highway with a fantastic open-air feeling. The photos are of various stages of thebuild, and the photos with the roll bar, red window tint, front aluminum tank, fire extinguisher, etc. are of how it is now. The rear seat is NEW and was from my 1967 Jeep CJ6, but I chose to put it in the gasser, for passenger carrying. It DOES come with the auction. It is new, but not "mounted" into position. Only the driver's seat has a seat belt. The rear seat is a "bonus" and can be mounted or removed; up to the buyer. ;>) This ex-postal Jeep "A Bit Gassy" is VERY straight with no dents or dings. There is just minimal rust, especially for a vehicle of this age and history. If you are wondering about its manners in stop and go traffic, keep this in mind: IT WAS A MAIL JEEP THAT STOPPED and GO'ed FOR A LIVING! It is the ULTIMATE city machine! Parks like nothing you've ever driven! Super easy to drive and insurance is about $18 a month.
