Jeep Wagoneer 1988 Description
1988 Jeep 4x4 Grand Wagoneer VIN: 1JCNJ15U6JT013712 I’m often asked where we find these clean. unique vehicles. One of my best friends cruises parking lots of retirement homes. Elks clubs. the V. F. W. Halls and the back streets of a well-known Scandinavian neighborhood here in North Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving with a turn signal left on just a little too long and he positively twitches with glee when a vehicle with metal bumpers passes by! If you’re in the market for a great driving. accident-free vintage SUV please give this Grand Wagoneer your kind attention. Feel free to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay auction listing. My name is Mark Thompson and I can be reached directly at 206/914-1173. CONDITION: The photos really do tell the story. This rig has spent much. if not all. of it’s life here in the Great Pacific Northwest and has been driving our salt-free western Washington roads for many years. From the pictures you’ll see it has obviously been well cared for over its lifetime. We’ve found absolutely NO evidence of any accidents. body or storm damage. insurance salvage. theft recovery. repossession or any other nasty negatives to cause you concern as the next new owner! I take pride in our vehicles and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly. here’s a list of the good and also any small things possibly needing attention: The four wheel drive system works just as it should. With a flip of a switch the drive train goes to full 4x4 mode. so most of the time you’ll be in 2WD and not wearing out the strong Dana 44 front axle components during summertime highway use. The overall exterior is in very good condition. This Grand Wagoneer wears the original silver metallic factory paint color and has had one good quality re-spray. It holds a shine perfectly with absolutely no breakdown of the clearcoat (a very common issue on Wagoneers). Both the factory original Marine Teak woodgrain vinyl and the trim are great. Rust? Well. this classic Jeep HATES rust and you’d be hard pressed to find ANY here to worry about! Because we rarely get snow in the Puget Sound Basin. our winter roads are never salted. Climb over. under and throughout this SUV - I know you’ll come up smiling! One turn of the key and the strong Chrysler-designed 360 CID V8 fires up from cold in the morning with just a few pumps of the gas pedal powered by the high-performance MSD ignition system. The previous owner also installed an Edelbrock 1406 Carbourtor which feeds into a Edelbrock Performer high-rise intake manifold (all FAR superior to a stock setup). The three-speed automatic 727 transmission shifts smoothly. just like it should. with NO slippage. There’s a tilt steering column. power steering. brakes. power door locks and electric windows (two of the four work. but can typically be a bit slow on the uptake). The tailgate glass goes up/down just fine by inserting the door key in the tailgate lock but doesn’t respond to the dash switch. I’d suggest having the air conditioning serviced before next summer as it does switch on. but does not blow very cold. I believe every Grand Wagoneer came with large front disk brakes in 1988 and these stop just fine with no pulling or binding. All four factory alloy wheels are wrapped with 235/75R15 all-weather radials and have at least 75% remaining tread. Our shop did a complete tune-up and oil change. This included new sparkplugs. oil and filters. Both the front and rear differentials were also checked and fresh gear oil added as needed. It really is a blast to drive anywhere you’d wish to go! Please take another look at the interior shots. The upholstery is sound on both front buckets and the rear seat. There are NO cracks in the dash cover. Headliners always seem to be a problem for Grand Wagoneers. Virtually every one you’ll find has warped cardboard with the material coming unglued and sagging. This headliner is in perfect condition. All of the door panels have stood the test of time and are in excellent shape. You’ll be quite impressed with the dash gauges. They’re still as clear and bright as the day this rig left the dealership 26 years ago! If you’re thinking about a comparable Chevy Suburban or Ford Bronco of similar vintage. you really owe it to yourself to look over and drive this unique piece first! About the only other things I can think to point out is the AM-FM/CD faceplate is missing a knob (but still is functional without it). PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a very nice vehicle from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset by a missed flaw or some unforeseen problem! No vintage used car or truck is ever perfect. You’re welcome and encouraged to come by my Auburn. WA warehouse to look over and drive the Grand Wagoneer. Ebay can also provide a list of independent inspectors if you’re outside the area to do this for you. I will be providing a free and clear Washington State title and a Bill of Sale with the vehicle. There are NO title brands of any kind listed. Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle. we require that Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact. your bid may be cancelled. As I’ve outlined above. the phone number to talk directly to me is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK THOMPSON. Don’t hesitate to call and make an offer as many of my vehicles do sell to a smart “early bird” that calls to work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction’s conclusion. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept PAYPAL. but if you plan to pay any more than the deposit through them I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3. 5% fee charged. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. If you decide to have the Grand Wagoneer transported home. there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) at (888) 817-6203. They're EBay’s preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote. Give the phone rep my affiliate number (2362642) and they can pull up all our information for station-to-station or even door-to-door quotes. As an alternative. you might also get bids from the U-Ship. com website. You’ll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers. The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn. Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. The Jeep can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. Though I have NO doubts about the vehicle’s road-worthiness or ability to easily manage a long-distance road trip. it is being sold “as-is. where-is”. All information described above is based on the observed condition when the listing was placed. I've done my very best to describe the Grand Wagoneer as honestly as possible and encourage bidders to contact me with questions.
