Jeep CJ 1980 Description
What is there to say about the venerable Jeep CJ that hasn't already been said? This 1980 Jeep CJ5 Laredo is the ultimate go-anywhere fun machine, nd to enjoy the Jeep lifestyle, ou don't have to settle for a clapped-out beater, ither. This one is beautifully restored, acking serious horsepower, nd ready to enjoy without a second thought. The Laredo was introduced as the upscale Jeep, nd it certainly looks the part. Remember, his is a time before luxurious 4x4s were the norm, o the flashy graphics and chrome bumpers definitely helped it stand out. With most CJs being used hard and put away wet, his one seems to have lived an easy life and doesn't show the usual bumps and bruises from a life lived in the dirt. Instead, t was given a frame-off restoration not too long ago, hich returned it to almost new condition. The black paint is in excellent condition from front to back, nd shows none of the usual issues in places like the wheel arches and tailgate. It's actually almost too nice to be on a fun vehicle that likes to get dirty and while Jeeps are rugged, asic machines, here's something special everywhere you look. Rubber fender flares allow the use of oversized tires and give it a broad-shouldered look, nd a chrome front fascia dresses up the usual Jeep 7-bar grille and round headlights. And perhaps most importantly, he graphics remain sharp and well-adhered to the body, iving it a dress-up look that's better than any other off-roader of the period. The Laredo's other upgrade was inside, here the stock vinyl seats were replaced by fresh high-back buckets and just about everything else is new. The entire interior has been coated in spray-in bedliner material, o it's ready to enjoy without a second thought about getting dirty inside. The Laredo also added a tachometer to the array of instruments in the dash, oining the large centrally-mounted speedometer and apparently random array of auxiliary gauges. Things like the steering wheel, ash panel, hifter boots, nd roll bar padding are all brand new and there's a locking center console for added security. There is no radio, ut you'll probably find that this 4x4 is a lot of fun just the way it is and a soundtrack might be superfluous. The 4-speed shifter and two-speed transfer case lever work in the usual fashion, aking it easy to drive regardless of the terrain. And for inclement weather, here is a full soft top with matching doors, aking this a Jeep you can drive every day.For power, t relies on a bulletproof Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 with a few upgrades. Torque is the name of the game in off-roading, nd you don't want some twitchy, igh-strung powerplant when you're inching up a hillside. So with that in mind, his one received a high-rise intake with a Holley 4-barrel carb along with a custom fender well exhaust headers and side pipes, ll of which help build on the engine's already legendary performance. The engine bay is so clean you'll wonder if it's ever seen a day in the mud, nd it runs so well you won't be afraid to head out into the wilderness. Underneath it's shockingly clean with all the original hardware pretty much intact, nd there's a new clutch and rebuilt transmission that have only 15,812 miles on them. The suspension is pretty stock and it's fitted with gorgeous polished aluminum wheels wrapped in 31x11.50-15 off-road radials. It may look fancy, ut this is still a rugged, ully-sorted Jeep that's ready to play. And really, asn't that what you were looking for anyway? Call today!
