Up for auction is a drop dead knockout 1979 Jeep CJ5 Renegade in its original and rare color Ensign Blue with correct triple orange Renegade stripes from Phoenix Graphix. It is a 3-owner Georgia Jeep and this CJ has always been taken care of and always adult owned. It’s all original steel and original body and frame. It is rust free and it always has been.

The first owner had the Jeep from when new in 1979 to November of 1988. The second owner had it from 1988 until March of 2001. The third owner is whom I purchased the CJ from.

The third owner did a complete frame off and rotisserie restoration in 2002. I purchased the CJ in May …

Paint & Body:

As mentioned above this Jeep CJ is restored in its original paint code 9T Ensign Blue…The Jeep was painted on a rotisserie in 2002 except for the bottom side of the hood which still retains its original Blue paint. The bottom side of the Jeep and the interior is all painted Ensign Blue. There is no rust and there never has been any…period! This Jeep has been garage kept most of its life and we really don’t have conditions here in Georgia for rust anyway. No salt on the roads and such as that. The floors are original and not even pinholes. NO RUST. It is a very good original steel body. The paint is beginning to show its age a little on the outside with some small nicks from getting in and out of the Jeep and few small touch up spots. The paint is not perfect and it is not the paint of a high dollar street rod but it is good enough. The Triple Orange Renegade stripe package is brand new and correct 79 stripes from Phoenix Graphix. I had the stripe kit put on the Jeep and as you can see it really made this CJ pop! It’s an eyeful. I also put brand new Wheels & Tires from Summit Racing on the Jeep. I went for the correct factory look with the White wagon wheels and I think it turned out well. The wheels are U.S. wheels 70 series White 8-Spoke Wheels 15x8’s with a 3.75 backspace and new Chrome lug nuts. The tires are BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO,s 31x10.5015’s… and there are 5 including the spare. The windshield glass and rubber seal was replaced when the Jeep was first restored in 02. The front and rear bumpers are custom and they are painted to match the frame… and they were painted at the same time as the frame, xles, nd supporting parts all soda blasted and professionally painted in a paint booth. It has stainless side view mirrors, tainless hood hinges, atches, nd stainless hood vent as well. It has a polished chrome grill cover, nd all of the lights and lenses were new when restored in 2002 and it has 4,422 miles after that. It also has a stainless fuel inlet and the original side steps (which are almost impossible to find)…

Interior:

The interior is simple, lean, nd close to the original style. I put the seats in and they are brand new and correct low back style from Garage Pro. They are the only ones that I could find with blue seats. This is the first time that I have bought Garage Pro seats but it won’t be the last. They are super nice and super firm and comfortable. It’s a real good quality seat. I also put a new hang on temperature gauge as the in dash one was questionable and I am a stickler for knowing temp and oil pressure. All of the lights, urn signals, nd the horn work great. As you might have guessed; the fuel gauge does not work. There is no back seat as it has a big sub-woofer box instead. The threaded holes are still in the floor back there if you want to put a back seat in it would be as simple as a few bolts and a couple of seat belts. There is no top other than the Bestop bikini that you see in the pictures. It has a chrome passenger grab bar and I put a new shifter boot in as the original one was cracked. There is a small crack on the padded dash pad on the driver’s side. It does have tilt steering. It has new Blue sun visors. The stereo system consist of a Kenwood MP3/WMA/Sirrus XM/Pandora/CD Player with a 600 watt 2 channel amp custom mounted under the driver’s seat from Profile California… The speakers are two in dash 5” Pyramids with the sub-woofer box in the rear that has two Pioneer Champion Series sub-woofers.

Engine Drivetrain:

I was told that the engine is the original 4.2L 258ci in-line 6-cylinder… The motor was professionally machined and rebuilt and it runs perfect. It also got a new water pump and radiator. The engine runs smooth and it runs strong with good power. It has headers and brand new dual exhaust with knock off Flowmasters which I had put on. It sounds good with a real nice tone. The Jeep does have power steering and a brand new steering box that I also just had put on. It also has an Optima battery. The transmission is the original 3-speed and it shifts smooth and the clutch feels perfect. This CJ runs, ides, rives, andles, nd brakes great. If I could have found anything else to do to it I would have already done it. It is turn-key ready to go. The underside is spotless and the frame, xles, nd supporting parts were all soda blasted and painted on the first restore back in 2002 and the Jeep hasn’t been in the rain since then.

The previous owner spent a lot of time and money on this Jeep and so did I and it shows… and it paid off. I am very pleased with the way this CJ turned out and the new owners are going to love it for sure.

If you are looking for a cheap CJ or a desperation sale this is not it. These Jeeps have really gone up in value over the past few years and they are getting hard to find in this condition. I have the CJ priced very reasonable for the condition of it and for the current market. If you want a fair price on an excellent Jeep to enjoy then don’t miss it.
