Jeep CJ 1985 Description
For sale is my cherished 1985 Jeep CJ-7. I have owned this Jeep since 1994 and have babied it the entire time. It is in excellent condition with less than 71K original miles! ThisJeep has lived it's entire life in Texas and does not have a speck of rust on it anywhere! I am the fourth owner since it was new. Because I am now the proud Grandfather oftwo young girls I have decided to sell my Jeep to get avehicle more suitable for family outings. I looked at ratty and rustyJeeps for two years before I found this gem. I can honestly say I don't believe you will find a cleaner, ore rust freeCJ-7 anywhere in the country unless it has beenrestored. This one is nearly all original except for some paint, he rebuilt engine andadded accessories.
The front clip (fenders, ood) were re-painted by the previous owner due to sun fading. The paint job was OK but not perfect as you can see ghost stripes on the hood and a couple of runs in the paint. Oh well, t's aJeep not a showcar! You can see someadditional sun fading around the windshield frame that was not re-painted with the front clip. The entire body tub from the windshield back is original factory paint. There may be some scuffs scratches and rock chips here and there butthere are zero dents or rust. The interior is all original. The carpet, yes carpet), ll three seats, ighback fronts and fold-n-tumble rear, are near perfect, ot a ripanywhere, ust somecrease marks from use. About2 years ago I scored an NIB original OEM replacement top thatlooksfantastic. Clear windows again with some light scuffs on the rear from being rolled up occasionally. The rear window on the driver side has a hole in it from a hailstorm this spring, rrr. This CJ has the very rare factory AC that works perfectly now with a new compressorreplaced last summer. There are many other options on the Jeep that I will list below. Many of the options are from the factory and there are several othersthat I have added.
About three years ago I had a rebuilt engine installed by a local Jeep specialty shop. The original engine had been rebuilt previously by another machine shop that botched the job and it didn't last but 6000 miles before it went South and took out the crank bearings. When the current, eplacement engine was installed,I addedthe excellent but very expensive ($2,500) Mopar multiport fuel injection kit which makes an immense improvement to the CJ. One turn of the key and it fires up and runs like a top. I also added a Borla stainless steel header, igh flow catalytic converter, orla stainless steel cat back exhaust, enterforce clutch and all new clutch linkage. All totaled this was another $2,000 in upgrades. The AC system was gone through last year and received a new compressor, ryer, nd one replacement hose. It blows good and cold on our HOT summer days in Texas. The transmission is a T5, speed overdrive. The transfer case is a Dana 300, nd the differentials are; Dana 30 front, orporate 20 rear (3.73 gearing) all of them are stock Jeep items. It also has a4 year old Optima red-top battery.
