Jeep CJ 1985 Description
I have a 1985 Jeep CJ-7 up for auction. The title has rebuilt on it because the previous owner used the frame from a wrecked 1986 CJ-7 with this 1985 tub to make 1 good Jeep. The original frame had some rust thru at the rear hangers, so the 1986 frame was used. I have a Virginia title in my name with all the numbers matching for the Jeep. This Jeep now has a rust free frame and 95% rust free body. The only rust I can find is minimal spots it each floor pan. It looks like the carpet held water and caused some rust in each floor pan. Its not bad (see pics) enough to do any panel replacement, but its enough that it needs to be noted when trying to sell the Jeep. I have spent a lot of money on the Jeep to get it looking, driving and stopping good. The Jeep hasa new battery, Rough Country steering stabilizer, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, front brake line, glove box, floor mats, all new flip and fold seats front and rear from Rugged Ridge, steering wheel and leather cover, solenoid switch, alternator and custom pinstripes. The Jeep has 15x10 aluminum wheels with 35x15.50x15 SuperSwamper TSL/SX tires with well over 50% tread on them. The Jeep has a spring over conversion suspension lift. It has Yukon posi-trac units it the front and rear differentials. When it spins, it spins both tires everytime. This is a good solid Jeep with a good hard top and doors. The cylinders on the rear hatch work as they should, it latches properly and the top and doors are in good condition. It has the zip on roll bar padding. It has a center console also. When I bought the Jeep it had been sitting for several months with the ethanol gas in it. I drained the tank and blew out the lines and put in a few gallons of fresh gas. It ran, but not good at all. I had a local mechanic take the carburetor apart and clean all the rust looking crud out of it. I put a new set of plugs in it with the fresh carb and got it running pretty good. It still has a slight hesitation at about half throttle, but its driveable as is. I have a folder full of receipts for the Jeep, parts and labor to get it to this point. The paint is about 5 years old and shows some scratches and nicks here and there, but this is a good driver quality Jeep. It has a lot of stainless accessories on it and will come with a set of stainless factory CJ mirrors. I have tried to describe the Jeep as best as possible. Please look at all the pics and ask any questions you want. I check email daily. Summer is here. Take the top and doors off and enjoy the ride. I have 2 shippers that I work with regularly and can get the winning bidder a quote if needed. Bidders with less than 10 feedback need to contact me before bidding or your bid will be cancelled. I have lots more pictures of the Jeep and will be glad to send them to anyone interested. Send me your email or cell number and I will send you all the pics I have. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
On Jun-19-16 at 18:20:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I've had a couple questions about the title, emissionsand running condition of the Jeep. Just to clarify:
1- I have a Virginia title in my name in hand with all matching numbers. It does have rebuilt on it because the previous owner actually went to DMV when he changed the tub to the rust free frame. It was not really necessary because the tub had the numbers and vin tag on it and he only changed frames from a rusted one to a good one. He should have left it alone and it would have been fine. He didn't know, so it cost him money for nothing and he got a title with rebuilt on it. When I changed it into my name I got a title with rebuilt on it just the same. It causes no issues at all getting title changed and tags at all in any of the 50 states.
2- The Jeep starts, runs, idles, drives and stops. The carburetor does have a certain spot at about half throttle that it has a hesitation. Once you get past or below that it runs great. It may just need some fine tuning by someone that knows about Jeep 2-barrel carbs.
3- It does have the catalytic converter on it with a new muffler and tailpipe ran out the back. Emissions wise it should have no problem passing any state. It had a Virginia state inspection from 2014 on it when I bought it a few months ago. Please look at my feedback score and comments on feedback and you will see I am upfront and honest as possible dealing with items on ebay. Thanks again for looking and bid with confidence to win a good, solid Jeep. Thanks again.
