Jeep CJ 1973 Description

This is a 1973 CJ5 with full Fiberglass Body and an AMC 401 V8 (350hp) and matching Turbo 400 Tranny. It has the Dana 40 Rear "locked" Axels and 4.88 gears. (full time positraction 50/50 to each tire. It was originally built as a "glamis" sand Jeep, but I have made it street legal, and it's a real head turner. I call it an Alpha Jeep and it lives up to it's name. Here are some of the details for you Jeep Guys. Matching Set of (4)BF Goodrich Tires, 33x12.5x15 Deep dish Mag Rims, and (2) Michellen LTX on Chrome Rims. It has a Racing All Aluminum Dual Fan Radiator from Ron Davis Racing in Phoenix. A Big Holly 4bbl double pumper Carb Usual Edelbrock Intake Manifold, Valve Covers, ect. Headman Headers with Double Straight thru 24" Glass Pack side mufflers MSD Electronic Ignition System (Sending Unit, Coil and Distributor) Racing Tachometer tied into the MSD for Shift and RPM Management (currently set at 4K) B&M Hydro Cable Shifter Electronic Fuel Pump with new gas tank sending unit. New Battery, Cables, Belt and Hoses, Solenoid and Alternator. New Engine Compartment Wiring Front Off Road Lights Rear Electrical Connection for Lighted Whip (as required in Glamis) Custom Roll Cage (full coverage) and Cargo Box on top. Custom Fabricated Steering column with double U-joints, bearings and Removable Steering Wheel. many other nice add-ons, see photos. I"m not sure how many miles are on the engine, but it checks out perfect. No smoke, same plugs for 2 years, still like new. Doesn't burn oil, but does have a small mandatory rear seal or valve cover leakage, Just one of two little drops. I just add about 1qrt of oil every month. Too small to mess with. The Transmission has been worked on by someone, and it's fantastic. You would have to drive it to understand. At idle it the engine has a lope to it, but I have no idea what if anything has been done to it. It's super tight and unbelievably responsive. Massive amount of torque and power. Again, you would have to drive it to appreciate it. Nothing can touch it until the RPM peaks at 4k. It goes down the hwy smooth as silk and at 3K Rpm it is doing 60-65 miles an hour. I've been using it as a daily driver, but all you have to do is add a set of paddle tires and you set for Glamis or the Sand. Or keep the regular tires on it, and use it in the Mud or Snow. I've never needed any 4wd in the dirt, or mud, I just "power" thru it. If you have any questions please message me and ask. ***This is a 2wd Jeep with D2 Straight front Axel. It is Manual Brakes and Manual Steering no heater. no speedometer, I use Tach as Speedometer.
