Jeep CJ 1978 Description

Up for sale is a 1978 Jeep CJ-7 Levi's edition produced by American Motors Corporation AMC.
It has a 4.2 liter (258 cu in) straight 6 with a 1-barrel carburetor with a three (3) speed automatic that is a GM turbohydromatic 400 transmission which is the original powertrain from the factory.
Has power steering.
It has the quadratrac all wheel drive (AWD) system with differential lockout located in the glove box.( I have not tried the lockout.)
This vehicle came from New Jersey and has 74,650 original miles and was used in the summers at Ocean View Camp.
The floor pans have been repaired and there are only a few small holes in some spots but it does not affect driving the jeep at all. It was common for these floor pans have rust.
Frame is in good shape and has no holes or rotting.
The Jeep is original with no lift kits or suspension modifications. The engine and transmission are completely stock and are original to the Jeep. Numbers matching.
Tires have slot of tread left and are in good shape.
The passenger front seat has been replaced with YJ seat as the original seat did not come with the vehicle when I purchased.
There are a few minor leaks:
brake reservoir
Trans pan
Oil pan
There is some repairs done to the right rear area of the body tub as seen in the pictures.
There is some rust under the bottom of the windshield frame.
The original color is Loden Green as seen in the interior, however it has been overlayed with black paint. The paint is ok and it looks decent from 5 feet away.
The Jeep runs and drives good and stops good.
Motor is strong and holds good oil pressure and does not burn any oil. No smoke from tail pipe.
The trans shifts good and fluid is very clean.
The the head lights work including interior lights, wipers, the heat and defroster work as well.
The gas gauge does not work nor the factory radio.
I have had this Jeep for 4 years and is very reliable. Only the starter and battery have been replaced.
The Jeep has a full soft top (including side and rear windows) from Bestop and original full steel doors with Windows.
Please keep in mind this is a 1978 and it's 38 years old but is a great platform to expand upon!

Update: Based upon the options this Jeep has namely the steering wheel with Levi's Package, this Jeep is a Renegade Levi's Jeep CJ-7. The full steel doors with roll up windows are the original color Loden Green. The tailgate does not open and has been welded to the tub. The original carburetor Carter YFA 1-Barrel Carb will come with the Jeep. When I purchased the Jeep, it came with a Holley 1-Barrel that was also used with AMC 232 and 258 Straight 6 motors. The Holley carb is a much better carb than the Carter which were never good carbs from that time. The soft top is in good shape and is made from Bestop and the side windows and rear windows are included. I can provide additional pictures upon request. Please remember the vehicle is a 1978 and is 38 years old. Vehicle is sold as-is. Thank you.
