Jeep CJ 1983 Description
Nothing says "I'll go anywhere" quite like a Jeep CJ7 especially one with substantial upgrades under the skin. V8 power an upgraded suspension and a full cosmetic makeover make this 1983 Jeep CJ7 Laredo the ultimate way to get dirty. It might just be the most recognizable automobile in the entire world. It has been on every continent and crossed the most forbidding lands in the world. Even more than 40 years after it arrived on the scene the evergreen Jeep kept its rugged good looks. Someone spent big on this one restoring it to almost new condition cosmetically including the gorgeous red paint and silver Laredo graphics. CJ7s were notorious for rusting particularly around the rear of the body but this one was spared that fate thanks to a lifetime someplace warm. The paint is nice enough that you'll probably think twice about plunging into the brush with it but you'll definitely have the hardware to get wherever you need to go. Accessories include chrome tube bumpers with off-road driving lights matching tubular steps plus a shiny grille that does little to disguise the Jeep's timeless looks.WWII GIs would have killed for an interior like this in their Jeeps but it remains simple and durable in the best off-roading tradition. New seat covers actually look expensive and upscale yet wash off with a hose. The dash has been painted to match the bodywork with all the original gauges reinstalled (including the factory tachometer and clock) so it has a clean OEM look that's 100% Jeep. Shockingly this Jeep also offers a fantastic custom stereo system with subwoofers and amp in the rear a tilt steering column with a new stock steering wheel and a Hurst T-handle shifter for the 3-speed gearbox so it's hardly a hardship to drive it daily. Spray-on bedliner material protects the tub and matching roll bar padding gives it a more luxurious feel although there's no denying that it's still basic and rugged. For protection from the elements it also includes a full soft top and doors for truly inclement weather and bikini top to cast a little shade on those sunny days out cruising. Mechanically this Jeep is virtually invincible. The engine you want is the rugged torquey AMC 304 cubic inch V8 and this one was fully rebuilt with a few welcome upgrades. Up top there's an Edelbrock carburetor and intake a set of finned valve covers and a high-output electronic ignition system. A big radiator keeps it cool when you're just crawling and it sounds awesome with a true dual exhaust system. A stock 3-speed manual transmission is linked to a 2-speed transfer case and heavy-duty axles front and rear. The suspension offers an additional few inches of lift thanks to a lift kit and a set of beefy shocks a steering stabilizer and all new bushings throughout to guarantee traction in the rough. Big aluminum Mickey Thompson beadlock wheels wear massive oversized Mickey Thompson Baja off-road tires that complete the go-anywhere look. The ultimate CJ7? We think it might be. So if you like playing in the dirt or attacking the urban landscape in style this real-deal Laredo is the right tool for the job. Call today!
