Jeep CJ 1979 Description

For sale: 1979 Jeep CJ7
Was restored about 9 years ago. It's been a toy for me that I've only run in the summer months since the resto. I have taken this jeep off-road once a year on average since the resto but I mainly drive it on the street. Runs good & everything works accept I never got around to hooking up the backup lights, heater & it needs a horn & radio antenna.
Motor: 304ci AMC V8 runs good. Heads were rebuilt & all new gaskets throughout at time of resto. Edelbrock Performer manifold, 500 cfm 4bbl carb & RV type cam. HEI distributor was new last year. Pacesetter headers & full custom dual exhaust with Magnaflow SS turbo mufflers. 3-core radiator.
Transmission: Original Jeep CJ T18 4 speed transmission w/6:1 creeper gear & model 20 transfer case. Very low geared in 1st gear low range. You can get out of the jeep and walk next to it while idling!
Axles: Stock axles with 3:56 running gear. Rear axle does also have the limited slip option but the discs are wore out and need replaced. Just operates like a regular open differential now.
Good stuff:
Dodge Viper Red base/clear paint. The Body tub is from a 1985 CJ7. Power steering & brakes. Tilt steering column. 21 gal. poly gas tank. All guages work. Smittybuilt steel console w/CD player. Wrangler half doors & family style roll bar with shoulder strap seat belts front and rear. Factory fender flares in good shape still. 2.5" lift w/Procomp shocks. 33x10.5x15 AT tires with probably 90% tread left. New Black Rock wheels last year. Custom rear bumper w/2" receiver hitch. Bestop Supertop was new about 3 years ago & is still in great shape. Fiberglass front fenders. All brake & fuel lines were replaced at time of resto. E-brake works & cables were replaced. Rear of frame was patched professionally & new rear cross member welded in (this can be seen in the pictures). Body mounts & spring bushings were all replaced at time of resto. New battery installed last year. There is probably more I'm forgetting. I've also got a ziplock bag full of receipts.
Not so good stuff:
The clutch chatters some taking off in second gear when cold. Once you drive it a little and it warms up it doesn't chatter anymore which is why I never bothered fixing it. It's been that way for 9 years. The one fender has a crack & a small chunk missing (see picture). It has a few rust bubbles starting on it (see pictures).
$500 immediate non refundable deposit required at auction end. Remainder of payment due at time of pickup. Cash only. Local pickup only.
