Jeep Wagoneer 1989 Description
1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer w/LS1 4L60E swap, EW PAINT/INTERIOR/WHEELS/TIRESThis is a rust free example that has spent its life in the deserts of Nevada and Utah, ot the briny, alty world East of the Mississippi. That alone is worth its weight in gold, s rust free examples are very hard to come by these days. Wagoneer dealers will ask 50k plus for stock wagons in this condition. But this one isn't exactly stock.
The original and accurate mileage is 130k. . . but that doesn't mean much when you take into account that the entire drivetrain is new. Not your average Jeep 360 c.i. V8 it shipped out with, his one's engine compartment is filled with the 5.3L LS motor and accompanying 4L60E transmission from a low mileage (less than 40k) Chevy Tahoe. This swap was done right, ith no corners cut and no hack work. All work completed by Utah's leading Jeep swap shop, ust 4 Fun Motors. Dig around under the hood. All emissions equipment is there and working. OBDII port functions along with check engine lights. All of the wiring is flawless, lean and simplified for the application. Brand new battery cranks it perfectly every time, ot or cold. Shift linkage has been seamlessly integrated to the stock column shifter, nd the tranny itself is smooth and has perfect shift points. The power is simply addicting and unlike ANYTHING Jeep has made in the past or today. Drives like a new Tahoe with about 1000 pounds less to carry around! Custom exhaust sounds great without making neighbors mad.
The transmission is linked to a pricey but necessary clocking ring to ensure that the transfer case operates at the ideal driveline angles and is tucked up inside the frame for ground clearance. If a swap doesn't have this. . . it is trouble waiting to happen. The transfer case itself is a new 231HD which any off roader can tell you is the one you want for strength, eliability and quiet operation in any poor traction situation. The complex and failure prone stock vacuum actuated front axle engagement system has been ditched for reliability and the 4wd (both Lo and Hi) work perfectly with no noises, attles, lunks or leaks.
The entire suspension and steering system, ront to back, s brand new. This includes a new: steering box, all joints, ie rod ends, rag link, itman arm, prings, hocks, pring shackles, -bolts, rack bars and sway bars with poly bushings, aster shims, tc. The springs offer a nice 4 inch lift to clear the brand new 18x9 Ballistic wheels with equally new (still have color marker on the tread) 285/60r18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires. No rubbing. No grinding. Fresh from a new alignment, his Jeep drives straighter and smoother than many new Wranglers, hile still offering the stout off road performance that the legend was built on. It isn't a Lexus, ut then who would want it to be?
The interior has been completely redone from top to bottom. This includes custom dyed black and tan two tone leather seats dashboard and door panels, eather headliner, ew tan carpeting, s well as significant sound deadening from the waist (window line) down. This alone makes this Jeep unique as the sound quality inside is significantly improved over stock Jeeps, s well as very noticeable improvements in thermal insulation (keeps you colder in summer and warmer in winter). The A/C blows ice cold, he heater and defrost blow hotter than Hades, ll of the windows and tailgate have brand new weather stripping, tc.
The outside is what turns heads though. Completely new blue metallic paint job complements the 100% custom grey wood side panels, aking this "Woody" LITERALLY one of a kind. Chrome and stainless trim are in excellent condition and you won't find rust anywhere on this body. Look it over. Bring a magnet. Bring a body shop. . . it's just not there. New LED headlights give you confidence on country roads at night and cut through bad weather.
You simply will not find a Grand Wagoneer like this anywhere. Check coast to coast. look around Ebay and see what others are selling STOCK examples for. Ask around what a swap like this, r the suspension/steering work would cost. I'll save you the trouble. Over 10k in the motor and tranny alone. Over 5k in suspension and steering work. Another 10k plus in body and paint and another 5k on the interior. 2k in wheels and tires to boot! I'm no math whiz, ut that's 30k+ in modifications alone, lus the rust free Jeep itself. Now this isn't my first rodeo and I know you don't get back what you put in modifications. So the listing price is a nice compromise for me that allows someone else to enjoy all of the work that has been put into this without me taking a bath on the deal. You can drive it across the country and get 20+ mpg on the highway, r go rock crawling through whatever trails you can throw at it.
One of a kind Jeep ready for a new home!
