Mercury Marquis 1977 Description
This car is an amazing time capsule! Excellent driver in town and on the freeway... the car has had two owners; and the 57,900 miles are documented original. Garaged or carport kept throughout its years. The original leatherette interior looks and feels like it just came off the showroom floor (notone rip/tear or crack - all seams look amazing). Rubber seals are all in good flexible shape.Dash and steering wheel looks like new - plush original carpet is in excellent shape. Glass all looks great, no chips or cracks, power windows all work great. The big block 460 engine with factory 4 barrel has plenty of power for this land yacht! Engine has never been steam cleaned, and looks very original / clean. Possibly a little oil seepage around the valve covers, but no leaks that make it to the ground. Theautomatic transmission seems to function perfectly. All of the chrome is very straight and rust free. Lights are all in nice condition, automatic headlight doors work perfectly. Tires and hubcaps are in great condition - tires have less than 10,000 miles on them. The build sheet on this car is very unique; it has power seats, power windows, top of the line engine and Broughampackage. It was ordered with from the factory with an AM radio, manual door locks and noAC (who needs AC in Seattle?)
The paint on the car is original factory paint and looks like it has never been in an accident, I can't find any rust, on the car, there are two small dents on the passenger side of the vehicle (mid door and mid front fender) which are not real noticeable;kind of like a shopping cart hit ora neighboring car hit with a door- see photo. Other than the two small dents, the car is VERY straight. Factory original vinyl top is in good shape with a almost in-noticeable bit of shrinkage by the trim above the trunk lip. The paint is faded - I have not tried to buff, wax or polish it. There isan imperfection in the finish at the front passenger side hood / fender area above the head lights (see photo).
Overall this car is an eye catching, wonderful driving car, I believe everything works... drive and enjoy it or have it repainted and show it! Amazing vintage!! Bythe way, even the door jams all look like new!Ashtrays look like they have never been used, carnever smoked in.
