Mercury Other 1947 Description

Up for Auction and Sale is a pretty nice 1947 Mercury. This is like the Ford of that year but a little bigger and with much more bright work giving it a classic, tylist look. The engine is a Chevrolet 350 with an Edelbrock 4 barrel, allory ignition, nd Hedman headers that feed a set of Smitty mufflers with cut outs so you can go mellow or loud. This engine starts quickly and runs smooth. The transmission is a 700R with overdrive that will give you 70 MPH at less that 2000RPM. Rear end is a Chevrolet 10 bolt (do not know ratio) with power drum brakesThe front end is Mustang 2 type with power steering and power disc brakes. The car is equipped with Vintage heat and air for a cool ride on a hot day. The interior is covered in grey cloth (only issue is the ribbing at the bottom of the doors) and will hold 6 people comfortably. The original instrument panel offers factory styling with VDO gauges cleverly hidden behind it, nd while the center stack houses the original radio (does not work), here is a AM/FM/CD unit underneath. There is a tilt steering column and a Lokar vintage shifter to operate the transmission. The large trunk is very clean with a rubber mat and spare tire. The paint is shinny black with some small chips from driving (I would say an 8+ to 9) and accented by nice red stripping between the chrome on the fenders. The tires are classic wide whites on steelies with baby moon hubcaps to give a great look. The car has 3555 miles on it since the build. The original owner had it many years as a stock version and then had the car built as a street rod.I have much of the documentation from the build. The car is very rust free and no patches found. I bought this car in February of 2014 from the broker Streetside Classics in Charlotte NC with 2400 miles on it. I made several improvements in the past year. However, couple of items need attention that I am aware of. It needs electric wipers- the vacuum wiper is super slow - and I replaced the rear shocks but the car will bottom out. I believe that the rear shackles need to be moved rearward. At my age, t is very difficult to get under the dash and under the car (getting up is worse), o I must make some changes and unfortunately this car must go (I do like the car - it's cool). The car is in Grand Rapids Michigan and can bee seen and driven there. If you have any questions please feel free to call Lynn at 616-656-2455. The car is for sale locally so I do reserve the right to end the auction early. There is no warranty. I will co-operate with your shipping arrangements. I require $1,000.00 deposit within 48 hours and the balance in full before releasing the car.
