We are offering for sale thisvery cool 1950 Mercury Coupe. This carwas restored manyyears ago and does show somewear consistent with the age of the restoration but maintains the cool factor ofbeing a steel, unchopped, flatty powered Merc. There issome bondo that was used during restoration, but the major areas are good solid steel. The doors, hood, rear decklidare super solid. As isare thefloors, inner and outer rockers and frame. There is a small rust area in the spare tire well, but the rest of the trunk pan isgood and solid. The glass isscratch and crack free and all opens and closes as it should. Chrome is in good original shape and all of the trim is present and straight with the exception of the very front of the driver's door beltline trim that has a small kink. Details of the imperfections are shown in pictures hosted in the link below.
The 24 stud flathead engine runs smooth and stays cool at about 190 degrees during cruising. The mechanical fan provides plenty of air flow while driving, but if you find yourself stuck in traffic, the auxiliary electric fan can beturned on tokeep things cool. The engine has period correct speed partsincluding Offenhauser aluminum heads and intake, triple Stromberg 97 carbs, andFenton headers. Dual exhaust running to twin 3" tips exitingunder the rear bumper make for a deep and mellow sound. The manual choke makes cold starts a breeze andonce warm, the engineidles at 700-800 RPM allday long. A Tremec T5,5 speed manual trans is mated to the flattyand allows the car to travel at freeway speeds with ease. This car has been road tripped to many NSRA events across the country through the years and goes down the road smooth, straight and true.
The seats are donewith stock appearing covers that could be original, but we assume they have been redone. Tight loop gray carpeting is in excellent shape throughout the interior and the floor has been dynomatted to cut down on noise and vibration. Door panels and headliner are all in excellent shape as well. The dash was restored and has functioning gauges, with the exception ofthe factory water temp gauge. Dualunder dash mounted Auto Meter water temp gauges keep tabs on the cooling system and a column mounted tach lets you watch the engine revs. The speedometer does run a little fast, but does work.A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo provides the tunes and allows you the ability to connect your USB, AUX and Bluetooth devices as well. An under dash electric trunk popper actuates the shaved trunk lid.

In a world full of small block Chevy powered hot rodded Mercs, this one stands out as a great running and driving, Flatty powered, period correct street rod Merc coupe that has the advantage of a late model overdrive transmission and light hydraulic clutch. This gives you everythingyou needfor your summer cruisesto the country orlong hauls to national events.
