"I just wanted to send a note to you about my 54 Meteor Niagara.I have many memories about the Ford product, my Grand father, my Dad and my Brother drive fords to this day. I knew I wanted a really old Ford/Mercury car to start my classic car interest. In the past 3 years I have really enjoyed this car, driving to approx. 8 car shows a year. When at the car shows I talk to people regarding the year and make of the car and so many interesting stories are told about old times, some so funny but heart wrenching too.
I have done a few things to my Meteor and are listed below:New windshield, new coil, new fuel pump, changed the thermostats and hoses, new battery, spark plugs, munro shocks, new hood insulation, new 15â€tires and custom US Mag rims, master cylinder cap, new brakes shoes, calipers, springs, rebuilt the carb., new ignition switch, new gas tank, rebuilt the generator, spray painted the roof to match rest of car, new exhaust pipe from about front seat back, expensive spark plug wires, new muffler, new package shelf, new fender side mirrors.
So as you can see I treasure this car as it means so much to me with memories of the past, my dad of 82 years old really loves my car, he sits in the front seat when we go for a ride but doesn’t say too much, probably remembering his old days of his 54,hah hah. I took really good care of the motor and transmission checking fluids and changing the oil, this Meteor was good to me too.I was unable to complete all I would like to on this car and I think there is a very small leak from the transmission, I am talking just a very, very slow drip. I haven’t paid too much attention to the underneath of the car, probably rust coated and not sure of how far that has gone. Probably needs the exhaust replaced right from the motor at the crossover pipe.I guess it's time to move on and hope my girl (54 Meteor) finds a really great home to travel another 95,000 milesâ€
My name is Jim Higham and the owner of the car has asked me to list it on eBay on his behalf as he is not familiar how the system works. I would like to add some comments regarding overall condition of the car. all chrome’s is original with some light pitting, interior is original and in good condition with the exception of the seam on the drivers side top of seat needs to be resewn. Headliner and door panels in excellent condition. There has been some areas that have been repaired on the body but not professionally, headlight area, taillight area, bottom of front fenders and doors. there is also a small hole in the floorboards on the driver and passenger side and also in the trunk. there are the normal dings dents that you would expect from a car that is 63 years old. The body brackets that run from the frame rail to the side of the bodyon both sides of the car will need to be replaced.( Pictures available)
Overall the car looks really nice and drives and runs excellent and can be driven anywhere you choose. this is a perfect project for someone who wants to be able to drive a car while doing needed repairs over time.
I can help the buyer shipping arrangements and customs clearance if required, please call or email any questions or concerns you may have.
