Mercury Other 1968 Description

This Merc was well maintained and cared for during its life as our family car. Now. after many years of Minnesota and Iowa winters. it has been relegated to the status of parts car. I would like to try and sell this car as I know it still has some useful and tough to find parts. It is (was) a Caribbean Blue car with a dark blue interior. It runs but the frame is shot. nbsp;so I would not consider it a restoration candidate or safe for the road. The motor (less than 113. 00 miles) really runs surprisingly well even though the carburetor needs work. click the link below to see and hear the engine running: 390 FE The engine has never been rebuilt. it has always been a smooth running machine. The exhaust manifold gaskets are no good so that is not valve noise you're hearing. The C6 transmission has never missed a shift to my knowledge. The glass is nice including the very hard to find rear deck window. There are many good interior parts/pieces. The sheet metal is rusty with the exception of the front fenders and hood (the front fenders are always in demand). I do not have the ability to part this car out. I would like to sell the car as a whole rather than sending it to the scrap heap. The car has been sitting under a lean-to next to a barn for the last 5 years. It has been driven at least once a year during that time. Before that. it was housed in a building or garage during the winter and sat outside during the summer. Some mice found their way into the passenger compartment over the last year. They did some damage to the head liner. driver's seat (which was already ruined) and the glove box. There is a bit of a smell now too. The photos seen in this auction are current. There are some parts shown in the pictures that I will be keeping for my restored 1968 Mercury Marquis. These include:The two script Marquis side emblemsThe Marquis trim on the glove box doorThe four hubcapsTwo headlights and chrome bezelsThe washer fluid vesselThe horn has been removed from this car and I'll need to keep the battery too. Again. this car is not a restoration candidate and is not road worthy. you'll need to trailer it back home. Buy this car for the motor. tranny and rear end. Part out what you can and then sell the rest for scrap. Please ask questions about this car if you have any. This car has been in my family since 1970 so I know its history. The car is located in Britt. IA so you will need to pick it up there.
