Mercury Comet 1965 Description

OVERVIEW We are selling our 1965 Comet Convertible. This car is not original. My wife and I like unique cars. We really like the body style of the '65. We painted the car the color of a 1965 Cadillac blue and redid the interior with real blue jeans. If you like blue this is a great car for you. We have completely redone this car. The engine transmission front end rear end brakes interior top… there is nothing on this car that hasn't been replaced touched or reworked. But it's not perfect. There is a small rust spot on the front bumper and small flaws in the paint. It doesn't have a radio because I didn't want to cut the side panels for speakers. I didn't install the new original dash pad; I like it better without it but the new uninstalled dash pad goes with the car. There are a lot of little things that we did that we don't have time to mention… but I'll mention this one: when we had the quarter panels off we put channels to direct water out the back from the convertible top (instead of directing the water out the fender wells which usually rusts the car). Here are some more details below. INTERIOR It has a custom sewn blue jeans interior which theme is carried over into the trunk (used overalls including the usable pockets) and the convertible boot. New carpet. The air conditioning is from Classic Auto Air with the polished compressor upgrade. This is an in-dash a/c system (not a box that hangs down). It has a new black convertible top and reworked open and close mechanism. It has been garaged after the restoration work has been done. It has a new Retro instrument panel and harness. MECHANICAL Mexican block Hi-Po 289 with 69 Windsor heads. The engine was professionally rebuilt. Bored 30 over; I have all the specs on the engine if you'd like to see it. Raptor Level 2 Dominator Junior Overdrive Transmission Quicksilver shifter New aluminum radiator New brakes all around; new drums lines etc Rebuilt front end New gears in rear end New exhaust New custom headers exhaust Mellowtone mufflers New power steering NOTES I cannot adjust the Holley carburetor to keep the car from hesitating when accelerating quickly. I changed the jets and even changed the carburetor. Someone with more patience than me can probably fix it. As stated above there are a few flaws in the paint and chrome nothing major. I had a stroke three years ago and I have not driven this car much since we finished it other than to start it occasionally and drive around the parking lot. No use letting it sit here; it needs someone to drive it. I have some of the original parts that will go with it if you want it. CONDITION Most of the restoration has been completed but I didn't replace the radio and I ordered the dash pad for the dash but didn't install it and it is included. There is a rust spot on the front bumper pictured.
