Mercury Other 1949 Description
up for auction is a 1949 mercury full kusto, his merc was built up from a really nice barn find merc that was found in the Midwest and built back in the 90s .
the top was chopped approximately 4 1/12 inches in the front and 5 1/2 in the back and the rare three piece early 49 rear glass was laid down nicely giving the top a really nice contour . the grille is a Desoto and the chrome on it is excellent and really dazzling in the sunlight, hile the hand formedcanted headlights lead the way on those dark nights out cruising around and sneakin down the boulevards they utilize the smaller motorcycle headlights and have Camaro turn signals .
out back you will find a pair of 1952 buick tail lights which are nicely canted to match the shape of the headlights and the deck lid has been shaved to really slick the trunk area up and has some very tasteful pinstriping on the lid. the color is a custom mix gold with tons and tons of flake in it and just sparkles .yeah it is a load color but it sure makes even the square folks look .
the interior consists of the original 49 dash which is a hot item to hav, n my opinion it is the best of all the merc dash boards, his one has modern gauges in it and they function as they should.
this car also has amazing air conditioning and great heat .
the front seats are a pair of Mercedes buckets and are so comfortable you could take a nap in them...not while you are driving of cours, nd the rear seat is one of those cool t- bird seats from a mid 1960s thunderbird.
here is a the great thing....it has a brand new g.m. crate 350 that even has factory warranty, t the time the engine was out we rebuilt the front end, rakes etc. which the front clip is from a 1969 nova ss , o it handles like a nova . also at that time the turbo 350 transmission was completely gone through and rebuilt as well. also the old driveshaft was replaced with a newly made and computer balanced one. also four brand new wheels were put on to ensure that all was good and they were powdercoated a nice bronze gold color and have coker wide whites and dodge lancer hubcaps . when the engine was out under the hood was cleaned and painted and tons of stuff was chromed and or sent off to the powdercoater and then pinstriped as well.
this car is nice and tight and goes down the road with no rattle, queaks or weird vibrations, regularly drive this one and just got home from a 250 mile trip and it did really nicely. now as I stated earlier this car has been built a while so there is a chip or two in the paint and some wear on the interior ....other than that I will put the drivability as high and you can drive it anywhere.
two other thing, t needs some electric poppers re installed for the doors, just have not gotten around to that also the dummy spotlights which are on the car will not go with it, will however put a set of the cal custom type on .
anyway happy bidding and please ask all questions before you bid, and if you win the auction, ou are expected to follow through and pay, will need a 1000 .00 deposit when the auction ends and the car can stay here in my garage as long as needed to arrange transport. and there is no warranty on the car other than the engine
