The introduction of the Cougar finally gave Mercury its own “pony car” Slotted between the Ford Mustang and the Ford Thunderbird, he Cougar was the performance icon and eventually the icon for the Mercury name for several decades. The Cougar was available in two models (base and XR-7) and only came in one body style (a two-door hardtop, o center or B-pillar). This included the 390 cu in V8, s well as a performance handling package and other performance enhancements. The GT package, ncluded Ford’s 390 cu in FE-series big block, long with an upgraded suspension to handle the extra weight of the big engine and give better handling, ore powerful brakes, etter tires, nd a low-restriction exhaust system.

The headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks and operate as designed. The original equipment wheels showed very little marring and curb rash.

Inside, he rich black vinyl seats (code 1A) all look great with some signs of wear visible. Excellent matching carpet throughout the interior. Overall the genuine interior looks great, owever there is some normal wear sports typical for a vehicle of this age. The door panels and dashboard are matched perfectly with the exterior of the car and look fantastic. The headliner mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme. The original steering wheel and optional center console are in great condition. The original equipment Philco AM radio operates as designed.

This nicely represented Mercury is equipped with the 335hp 390cid V8 engine, -6 3-speed automatic transmission, ower steering, ower assisted brakes(front disc and rear drum), ir conditioning, eater, riginal tools and 14 inch OEM steel wheels with matching full cougar center caps.
