Mercury Other 1947 Description

You are looking at the $1 No Reserve auction for my 1947 Mercury Eight 4 door Town Sedan. I love driving her around town, so many smiles, thumbs up, and conversations. That said it is time for me to move on, I know someone else will enjoy her as much as I have.
This Merc was purchased in 2004 from a dealer (for big bucks) who performed the extensive restoration and modification. You will not find another car like this and you will love driving this car. There are just over 10,000 miles put on this car since it was built in 04.
All of the following were installed/updated in 2004 as part of an exhaustive and professional build of the Mercury.

Car is in good working condition, AC blows cold, heat blows hot. She drives straight and true and the engine and transmission are in great shape. However I am not the kind of guy to try to hide any defects, I want you to know exactly what your bidding on, so here is a list of everything you could possibly want to address. Also check out all of the pictures, the ones with my fingers in them are pointing out issues.
Door dings, scratches and scrapes to exterior paint -I tried to take pictures of all areas affected by dings and scrapes, as you can see from 5 feet they are difficult to notice but if you are right on top of them they can be seen. This Merc is a driver and I have never been afraid to park it in a parking lot, with that comes some “use” marks
Bubbling paint on hood seam, rain gutters, and lower 1/4 panels -The paint job on this car is 12 years old and is showing a bit of bubbling, I took pictures of the affected areas.
Wipers are not working (1 blade is missing) -I never drove the car in the rain so never an issue for me, I do have an old stock wiper blade which will be included.
Rear drivers side door has a stuck latch and does not open easily -This never really bothered me as my kids just loaded in on the passenger side.
Trunk is difficult to open (need to push in on trunk when triggering pull) -I never used the trunk.
Interior seats wear is showing, couple of small holes on drivers seat, couple of tears on rear seat. -As you can see in the pictures there is a small hole in the drivers seat and the bolster of the rear seat has been attacked by a critter while in storage over the winter. The upholstery job all in all is still decent but its 12 years old and will eventually need a refresh
Door Poppers do not work -They can be replaced but I just open the door with the interior handle. I leave the triangle window unlocked and just reach in. The damn poppers are just not that reliable so I always left the triangle unlocked anyhow. When the poppers quit working I just did not have them fixed. I did have them replaced once before it was around $400.
Electric fan has a bad bearing -The fan started to rattle a week ago and I pulled the power to it, it may be easy to replace the bearing but the whole fan assembly is easy and inexpensive to swap out, I don’t ever drive the car in traffic so it’s altogether unnecessary for my use, but you would want a fan on this car in stop and go in the summer for sure.
When the headlights are turned on the engine temp gauge moves up 30 degrees -Although the engine maintains the same temp and the gauge is reading wrong when the headlights are turned on. There must be a bad ground or other electrical issue with the temp gauge car has always been this way, not a big deal but worth pointing out.
Headliner sags in 1 section -It looks like a small piece of roof insulation dropped on top of the headliner in the rear. I took a photo of this, it does not droop down too much but it’s there.
Hood passenger corner needs to be pushed down when closing hood -Again not a big deal, the hinge could probably be adjusted but its not perfect. I have put 1500 miles on her this year and she is running great.
This Merc is a driver and she drives great, no issues, straight down your country road or highway. Since she is a true driver and does have some dings scrapes and scratches to show for it, but she is well loved and ready for a new home. Here is your opportunity to own a great car, she drives fantastic and looks amazing. Tons of fun.
