Oldsmobile Cutlass 1972 Description
Up for auction is a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible. I am currently in the process of buying a new house and I will have no place to store the car. This car was originally for the San Jose area and has never left California. The car still has its original blue California plates and has current tags for 2016. This car has always been garaged and is rust free. The 2nd owner who was a mechanic took out the original 350 engine and put in a fully rebuild big block 455 HO engine with lots of performance enhancing extras. The engine starts and runs great and this car could be used as a daily driver. Above and beyond the engine running strong it is also incredibly fast with plenty of power to tap into at any speed! In addition, t sounds amazing with the new dual exhaust I had installed last year. I welcome personal and professional inspections, ut it must be done before the auction ends. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and handling charges. This car has no warranty and is being sold as is. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions – Happy Bidding!!!
Here is a brief list describing the details and condition of the car:
Paint/Body: Was originally yellow and the car was repainted by the 2nd owner in the late 90’s and always garaged so it still has incredible depth and shine. The color is 1990 Camaro Turquoise and with the pearl and metallic it can turn from green to a brilliant bluish hue when the sun hits it. There is no rust and the body is straight with a few minor digs here and there. On the driver side there is a small dent that runs down the side but nothing major. The passenger side lower quarter has some of the paint removed from the 2nd owners side exhaust being so close and rubbing. All badges and mouldings are present and in good condition for its age.
Interior: All original and front seats were redone in the lat 90’s. There are some tears on the driver side and rear bottom from wear over the years. Door panels are all original. The 2nd owner added an engine temp gauge by the e-brake and a rpm gauge in the dash cluster. A cassette player was added in the 80’s but they never cut the original stereo holes. When installing a top the line Viper alarm I also had power locks installed so you can remotely lock and unlock the car for convenience. I also have all new complete lock set for the car. I already did the glove box and trunk but I will include the doors and ignition when you buy the car. I also have a brand new glove box that is ready to install.
Convertible Top: The top was redone in the late 90’s when the car was painted; however, ince the car was always garaged the top stayed down all the years and got some wear and a tear on each side by the rear seat window. The top motor still works but needs new hoses and fluid. The top still works great manually and latches just fine. I am not sure if this was an option but the back window is glass.
Engine/Trans: As I said above the big block 455 HO engine is strong and drives great. There is a small leak in the transmission that my mechanic said was a seal that needed to be replaced but it’s a very slow leak. I had all new exhaust installed last year and its sounds great.
Alarm/Stereo: Last year I had a viper alarm installed and it also has the paging feature that allows you key fob to alert you if the alarm is tripped. I also upgraded the sound system with Kicker weatherproof speakers in the doors, hich are powered by a 80 watt Alpine amp hidden behind the dash next to the glove box. Furthermore I had a kicker amp professionally installed in the trunk along with a portable 12 inch top of the line kicker comp sub in a ported box. This is great since you can take it out if needed, ut it in the trunk or even the back seat if the top is down and you want to hear the tunes at freeway speeds. I installed the receiver deck under the dash with zip ties so its not permanent and can be moved to the glove box if a clean original look is desired. The deck is Kenwood and comes with usb charger, d player, remote and the face can be removed.
Windows: All the orig. and in great condition and roll up and down with ease. No major cracks or leaks.
Electronics: Wipers work, azards work but for some reason my blinkers stopped working a few months ago. This is a orig. AC car but the hoses were cut when the big block 455 HO was installed. (but lets face it with the top down who needs ac)
Thanks for checking out this classic car and good luck with the bidding!
