In 1949 the Oldsmobile 98 received the Rockey V8 engine and was offered in a variety of bodystyles including coupe, own sedan, nd convertible. The 303 cubic-inch engine was capable of producing around 135 horsepower and that number continued to climb as the years progressed.

The 98 remained at the top once again for Oldsmobile in 1952. The 98 series shared the higher output 160 HP Rocket V8 engine with the Super 88s. The three body styles featured standard equipment that included gray rubber floor mats front and rear, lectric clock, luminum door sill plates, hrome gravel guards, indshield washer and much more. Upholstery options included six colors of leather or broadcloth. The standard tire size was 8.00 x 15.
