Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 1953 Description
1953 Oldsmobile Super 88 2 door hardtop on a 1978 Cadillac frame. It has the complete Cadillac drivetrain including a 425 cubic inch V8, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, 10 bolt limited slip (posi) rear end, power steering and front disc brakes. I did not build the car but received it in a trade on another car. I was told by the builder that the engine and transmission were rebuilt during the build. The Olds is not a show car but a very presentable driver and fun cruiser. The paint and body work were done in the builders 1 car garage and are amateur quality with some flaws. There are scrapes and scratches from use. It had fender skirts when I got it and there are marks where they were attached. Some of the chrome has pits and scratches and some rust, especially the upper grille bar and bumpers. The interior is very nice with non-original bucket seats. The seats were redone in red along with the door panels and headliner. The car runs and drives very well (like a Cadillac !!). Since I have owned it I've made several improvements. Ihad a new dual exhaust system installed. it has glass packs and is pretty loud. I think it sounds great !I installed a new distributer, coil, plugs and wires. I had the rear end professionally rebuilt with new bearings, seals, wheel cylinders, brakes, drums and replacement axles. I added some custom made spinner hubcaps. We have taken the Olds out to a few shows and outings and itdraws a lot of attention and is a lot of fun to drive. I have set a reasonable reserve on this car. I am not interested in any trades. the only reason I'm selling is because I have a new project (50 Tin Woody) and need the funds to getit going. If it doesn't meet the reserveI will not re-list it and I will not consider any offers less than the reserve. My wife is giving me grief for selling it anyway.
