Oldsmobile Starfire 1962 Description

1962 Oldsmobile Starfire coup, very rare and desirable Oldsmobile. This is the second year for the Starfire which was built to compete with the Ford Thunderbird and other "personal " luxury performance cars of that era. The car has been a California car it's entire life. The vin states that it was builtin South Gate, alifornia. The Starfire is fully optioned with Power Windows, ower Brakes, ower Steering, ower Antenna, ower Seats, own and Country Radio, ucket Seat, Center console shift with Automatic and Tach and clockand Factory Air!Engine is a big 394 V-8 with chrome factory chrome air cleaner and aluminum valve covers.

A California car with original black plates has not been on the road since 2002. It has been in outside storage. Missing items are the steering wheel center hub medallion, ne wheel cover and the driver fender large stainless trim molding. The other like large stainless bodymoldings on the car were painted over at some point. Those are still on the car and appear to be in good shape. All other trim in chrome or stainless is on the car and in good shape. Bumpers are nice and chrome is still holding up well.Windshield has a crack in it and will need to be replaced. Gas tank has a sharp dent in the bottom of it causing fuel to leak out and will need to be repaired or replaced. The engine turns over nicely and runs smooth without any engine noise or smoke what so ever. Due to storag, the left rear drum brake needs to be removed and inspected as it is locked up at the moment.

Body is straight and does not appear to have had any major accidents. Even though a Californian car there rust on the body. Though not rusted thru attention is needed at the trunk and B piller on both side of the car. The is also some rust bubbles on the lower trailing end of the rear fenders, mall amount on the passenger door. Rockers below the doors are rusty and would require replacement in my opinion. The good news is the chassi, loor boards, ood, runk lid and trunk area is completely rust free.

Interior seats are in excellent condition both front and back. All door panels are useable. Headliner has a small tear over drivers seat. Wind lacing is good, riginal factory carpet Starfire mats are intact and usable. It would need a new carpet kit though. Dash pad has a crack in it. All dash board chrome is intact and usable. Color of the interior is a tan/green color.

Car was originally a factory white color but was painted at some point to the black color that is shown. This is a 99% complete car needing a full cosmetic restoration, owever, he mechanicals are sound and the engine does run very well.

I was planning on restoring the car however, ith several other cars in front of it I have decided to sell it for what I have in it. It is has great potential and certainly would be a show stopper.
