Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight 1960 Description
I just recently bought this Olds out of an estate. Spent most of it's life in North Dakota. It wasn't running at that time. It was said to be a one family owned car. I got it home checked the fluids and put a battery in it to try and start it. It turned over about 4 times and the oil pressure come up. It didn't fire so I put a new set of points in it and it fired right up. Didn't run real good to start with as it has old gas in it. Let it run about a half hour the first time to warm up and started running better. I've had the car running a total of about 2 hours since and just keeps sounding better. Engine was rebuilt but have no paper work on it. As you can see in the picture under the hood the engine and parts have been painted. It's a 4 barrel engine. Has an alternator and a hand choke. The body has had one paint job years ago. Had minor rust that was patched and is now showing. Bottom of both front fenders and low on the rear quarters had minor rust. The bottom edges of thequartersare solid. I included pictures. There are also a pictures of each side of the floors and trunk floor area under the car. As you can see they are very solid. Door jambs are clean and not showing rust. Doors open and close good. Hood has rust in each corner up front, an be seen in picture. Interior is very nice original for a car this age. Padded dash has some cracks, couple of the arm rest are showing wear. Windshield is cracked. Tires look good. I included a picture of the inside of the trunk. It's still very clean and still has the cloth that lined the interior of the trunk. In the picture of the owners manual at the bottom are the registrations card for each year it was licensed starting in 1961. I have not drove the Olds down the road. Drove it around the yard and trans goes into gear nice and smooth. Remember these old Oldsmobile's had reverse all the way down on the gear selector.Brakes work with a good pedal. The title is still in the last owners name. It was issued 1-15-2016 so it is a new title. The Olds hasn't been on the road for a few years so it should be trailered home. I'm selling it as-is!!! I would recommend cleaning the old gas out of the tank, hanging all the fluid's, hecking the brakes over, oing a tune-up, leaning the carburetor. I have more pictures I can send if you are truly interested.I think the Olds could be drove and enjoyed the way it is after checking it over. Please ask questions as I want everyone happy with there purchase. Car is sitting in my building 50 miles from town listed. Once paid for it can stay there until you can arrange transportation. I will also post a Buy it Now if we agree on a price. Thanks for looking at my auction!!!
Next week I'll be listing a 1987 Oldsmobile 88 Front wheel drive that is a 1 owner with just a little over 14,000 actual miles that is as nice as you'll find.
