Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 1973 Description
1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible This Elegant looking Oldsmobile droptop up for auction is the perfect classic collector convertible to enjoy this upcoming summer. Isn't it time to start showing up at the local car show scene?? If you have been looking for that classic daily driver then thisrare brown beauty with a beige convertible top just may have your name on it! These 1970's full size collector car convertible's have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts. According to the previous elderly couple that owned this Olds it does have the original Rocket 350 engine that came with the car new. The mileage is just under 42,000 and believed to be original. I saw a service decal on the inside of the trunk that had the mileage at 33,000 in 1987, so with the condition of the undercarriage I tend to believe the mileage could be original. It would be very hard to find a 43 year old car that has nice original floors and a frame this clean. I showed several pictures to verify how clean this car really is. I was told it was always garage kept and it only came out on selective days in the summer months. This Delta has had only one repaint in the early 2000's simply because the paint was fading. This Eighty Eight starts right up and runs awesome and drives down the road like a cream puff straight as an arrow with fingertip control. It is very hard to find a metallic brown Delta 88 with a beige convertible top and saddle interior. I would rate this Olds as a super nice daily driver. I was told this car had never been in any accidents and saw no evidence of it ever being hit. All the panels seem to be original to the body from 1973. Just check out how clean these original doors are as seen in the pictures. This Olds was ordered with the rubber bumper guard option that kept these original bumpers in nice shape. All of the original body side molding is still in place and in good condition. Like they say they only come original once. This car was never rotted and restored. What you see is what you are bidding on. These pictures were taken the day this auction was listed. Please excuse the white lines is the paint. Those lines are simply reflections in the paint from the basketball court that the car was positioned on to shoot these pictures. All the seat belts are present for a family of six to have a nice drive to the local ice cream shop all summer long. This is also the perfect car to take to the local drive-in movie theater and have your sweetie scooch over and sit right next to you if you flip up the cool arm rest in the middle of the front seat. Some of the factory options on this Delta include tilt wheel, and power windows with a power convertible top. This convertible top may still be the original, but is still in decent condition with no tears on the sides that are usually typical on these cars. There is one patch on the top but it is water tight. It does have the rear glass window option. There is a newer California boot included in the trunk to cover the top when the top is down in the well that can easily be mounted on those sunny days when it looks like no rain. The entire original interior still shows in nice condition as seen in the pictures with very few imperfections. The engine compartment was detailed and has a fresh brand new water pump, new master cylinder, and an Interstate battery. All three belts were replaced last week when the new water pump was installed. I believe the carpeting in this Delta is all original but could use a replacement to bring it up to the next level. There is a set of gold carpetedfloor mats on top of what looks like the original plastic floor mats. This Delta was also factory ordered with air conditioning that blows ice cold. There is nothing like rolling down the road with the top down and the windows up with ice cold frosty air blowing on the you while catching a tan and the wind blowing through your hair. This Olds rides ona brand new set of four Hankook 225/70R15 inch steel belted one inch whitewall radial tires with all four original wheel covers. The original trunk floor is still coated with the factory A/C Delco spatter spray. That is how original this very solid trunk still appears. The trunkcarries a full size steel belted radial spare tire with the original jack, jack stand, and crow bar. This way if there is ever a mishap on the road with a quick tire change you can be back on the road in minutes looking complete. The chromelooks to bein nice drivers quality condition or better. The original dash pad is in very nice shape, and I couldn't find any cracks anywhere. The factory power antenna option still works well and the stereo is a Blaupunkt AM/FM CD player with the front dash speakers hooked up, so you can actually hear music with the top down. ThisOlds was factory ordered with power steering and power front disc brakes. Steering these carsis simply a delight, and stopping them with power disc brakes is always wonderful. All thehead lights, bright lights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, all the interior lights, andeven the license plate light all work as they should. The speedometer and odometer work properly, and the gas gauge is accurate with a full tank of gas. The warning buzzer still buzzes when the key is in the ignition. These older classics that have survived for over 40 years are becoming harder and harder to find in this condition. This sweet 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible is being sold with an open, clean, and clear Illinois title. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible with the Rocket 350 engine and air conditioning option listed at $30,015 in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $16,847 in average condition, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! I think most anyone would rate this Delta 88 droptop in much better than average condition, but please bid according to what you see and can afford. Nada hasthe lowest condition value at $7,187 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these cars haveshown toconsistently escalate in value. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a nominal price. I can't see anyone being disappointed with an investment of this magnitude. I tried to list everything I know about this car when writing this description. If you feel I may have left anything out please ask as many questions as you like. There are plenty of local car shows to attend this season!! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!
