Vehicle History

This vehicle was purchased new as a custom "Factory Order". I took delivery of it in June of 1977 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Three years later in 1980, I moved to Dallas and drove the vehicle to Texas as my daily-driver. Although I moved my residence to Dallas, I left my boat in Wisconsin (my idea of boating is on Lake Michigan). Over the next two years, each time I flew back to Wisconsin for summer vacation, I found myself having to scrounge around for reliable transportation. That proved to be very inconvenient at best. So, in 1983, I solved the problem by purchasing a new vehicle in Texas and driving the Toronodo back to Wisconsin for the sole purpose of having reliable summer vacation transportation. Since 1983, the Toronado has lived its life in year around dry storage except for the few weeks I would take it out of storage each summer for vacation fun time.

I am selling the vehicle because I've reached that stage in life where it is time to let go of my toys. I've recently completed the sale of my boat. So, now it's time to do the same with the Toronado.

Mechanical Condition

As previously stated, my sole objective of keeping this vehicle was to have reliable summer vacation transportation. Towards that end, the Toronado has served me well. It has never required any major work to be performed on either the engine or drive train. When mechanical issues surfaced, I'd have them taken care of right away . . . like I said . . . "my sole objective was reliable transportation". In addition to routine lube and oil changes, items which have been repaired (i.e., replaced with new parts) within that past few years include the water pump, master cylinder, hydraulic brake lines, EGR valve, AC compressor belt, and all rubber vacuum and water hoses. The engine starts easily and runs well, but not as smoothly as it could or should due to carbon buildup. The carbon buildup is the combined result of annually fogging the engine with Marvell's Mystery Oil prior to winter storage and the fact that it's been driven only a few hundred miles each summer since 1983. What it really needs is to have some good highway miles put on it.

Body Condition

The curb-side appeal of this vehicle is "eye-catching". The body paint is factory original with the exception of both right and left rear-bumper filler panels which were recently replaced with after-market fiberglass replacements. The white Landau Roof is in excellent condition. The engine bay is clean and the trunk compartment is exceptionally clean. The primary deficiencies include rust on the bottom leading edge of both doors, an 18 inch long crease along the bottom right rear quarter panel, and sprouting rust spots on the roof top and bottom edge of the trunk lid. Also, the paint on the hood and trunk lid shows visible fading, discoloration and paint-checking. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition. The attached pictures and videos fairly represent the true condition of the vehicle.

Interior Condition

The interior is exceptionally clean. The white leather seats are clean, soft, and pliable without any tears, holes, or significant signs of wear. The carpeting is very clean. The front carpeting looks as good as the rear-seat carpeting which has almost never been used. The interior side panel and head-liner are in good condition. The instrument panel is in excellent condition. The only major defect in the interior is a cracked dash board directly in front of the steering wheel. This crack happen a couple of years ago from a brutally cool Wisconsin winter while the car was on jack stands in storage.
