Oldsmobile L36 Touring Sedan 1936 Description

Please read the entire description below and ask questions before bidding!

Body: Some panels have been sanded and primed, some still need to be worked on. There is minor rust-through at the bottom of the doors, otherwise the body is solid. I do have the original running boards and they are in good condition, could be used as-is without recovering but are not perfect. The holes you see in the tops of the front fenders are not damage, they are where the fender lights get mounted. There is a dent in the driver’s side front fender. No other significant dents. The car does not appear to have been in an accident, all body panels seem to be original to the car. The wood frame is solid. Doors open and close perfectly and do not sag. The windows are not cracked or broken. The grill and bumpers you see in the pictures are not the ones intended for the car when it is restored – I have re-chromed parts to replacethem (see photo for examples of some of the rechromed parts). There are no missing trim pieces, if they are not on the car they have been rechromed and are packed away.

Chassis: Surface rust on the chassis and floor pans was fairly minor and was sanded off. The chassis and floor plans were then painted black. The brakes have new linings and rebuilt cylinders, including the master cylinder. The front end was rebuilt. The gas tank was professionally restored. The wheels and tires currently on the car are not the original ones. I do have the original artillery style rims and they have all been sanded and primed.

Drivetrain: The engine was rebuilt years ago but is currently locked up, I think due to sitting for too long. Hardened valve seats were used so that the car could run on unleaded fuel. There are many spare engine parts included in the sale, including an engine block and related internal parts. Some of the spare parts are used, some are NOS. The clutch was replaced when the engine was rebuilt and the driveshaft was rebuilt and balanced. The transmission shifts properly. Spare transmission parts are included in the sale.

Interior: The door panels were carefully removed so they could be re-dyed and reinstalled. They have been dyed to a dark burgundy color. The back seat has been dyed as well. The front seat has not been dyed and does need some repair to the fabric where the driver sits. I have all the trim parts, handles, etc. carefully packed away, nothing is missing. This car has the optional dash clock and heater. The heater works, not sure about the clock. I do have a new custom made wiring harness for the whole car that can be installed as restoration continues. I also will include a correct 1936 Oldsmobile radio that seems to be in very good condition, but cannot guarantee that it works as I have never tried to power it up.
