Oldsmobile 442 1970 Description

1970 Oldsmobile 442 ConvertibleNot a "clone or tribute"
Real Deal Lansing built 1970 442 Convertible
Great car for that 442 buyer or dealer that wants to put a W-25 hood on it and buckets/console and get 45k for it.
Finished in its original color of Twilight the car shows great. There are no patch panels in the floor or trunk. Perfect pinch welds on the bottoms of the quarter panels. Very clear and evident door frame to door shell folds and spot welds. No swelling or blistering on the rocker panel to inner rocker pinch welds either. date code is clear and evident on the top of the quarter panels inside the trunk. no rust by the commonrear body mount areas, ect. I could go on and on, but no current or prior rust issues.
Both fenders are 1970 fenders as evidenced by no bumps on the inside of the fenders as the 1971 and later cars do. I am no expert, but in owning more of these 1970 442's in my life than any Oldsmobile dealer in the country ever had new, I know enough to bedangerous.
The paint is about 10 years old or so I would assume, and shows very well. The car is very straight and easy on the eyes.
This car had a body on restoration about 10 years ago. The original interior color was blue, but all new whitelegendary interior was installed. This is very expensive, top qualityreproduction interior. At the same time, a new high quality convertible top was installed. It appears that the convertible top frame was sand blasted at that time, and all new tack strips were installed. The power top is in perfect shape and works well.

This 442 has a correct, but not born with 455-365hp engine in it, that just runs great. If you've never driven one of these, the torque will pull you back in your seat. It is a fine running car. No smoke on start up, does not run hot, no appreciable leaks, ect.
The Trans is the original TH-400 that shifts great, and downshifts as it should, with a nice chirp of the tires as it finds second gear, as designed.
The box frame on these 442's were known to commonly rot from the inside out, in the boxed areas, much like the Corvettes of this era. This car has no frame rustissues, no blistering, no rot. No thinning at the rear horns that 9 out of 10 of these cars exhibit.
When the car was restored, a Vintage Air Conditioning unit was fitted. The AC works great in this car and this system is far superior to the old R-12 Delco A-6 style compressor of the time.
The car has some good options, power brakes, top, andsteering.
There is really nothing not to like about this car, myself personally. I like bucket seats and a W-25 hood. That would be really easy to do in the car insofar as the interior is all Legendary brand, so for about $2,500....realistically you can have yourself a dual gate, buckets, console, metal frame W-25 hood car with a W-25 air cleaner. I mean that is all personal preference. Then you'd have yourself a $45k car.
I picked the car up because it was a very nice example of a poorly advertised car.
At the end of the day this is a REAL DEAL 1970 OLDSMOBILE 442 Convertible with a rock solid body that isready to drive with the top down and the A/C cranked...TODAY....
The carneeds NOTHING!
Thanks
