Oldsmobile Cutlass 1969 Description

This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible combines iconic bodylines with serious speed. It's a real code-4467 convertible, which makes it rare. And it has been upgraded to a 455 V8, which makes it unbeatable. There are very few designs from this era that could say both "sporty" and "luxury" so well. This convertible has all the great dramatic curves, flared fenders, and a handsome front end that was instantly recognizable as being from GM's rocket division. It's coated in Crimson Red paint, which was a popular factory color, but you can easily tell that's not the whole story. The deep gloss this convertible radiates even when indoors is a clear indication there was a real investment on a professional application of modern paint and plenty of clearcoat. It takes superior body panels for a paintjob like this, because imperfections can't hide from all the shine. This is a true 442 ragtop, so all the chrome and badging are in the right places to take home the car show trophies. The wheel wells are filled with ARE torque thrust rims the exact kind you'd pick up in '69 if you wanted an aggressive presence on the street, and they are still a bold choice today. Beneath the pristine black folding soft top is a pristine black interior. The seats, door panels, and carpeting all feel fresh and show no signs of being left out with the top down. So this 442 is a muscle car for family and friends with enough room to carry six in wide comfort. But that shouldn't surprise you. After all, Oldsmobile was about providing a premium feeling over the standard cars of the day. So that's why you also get great features like the wood paneling on the dash, three-spoke steering wheel, and power folding top complete with glass rear window and boot cover.Olds fans were a bit confused in '69 why GM didn't lift its displacement restrictions and allow the larger 455 cubic-inch V8 in the hot 442. This car rectified that problem, and the extra large Olds big-block is under the hood for a more potent muscle car. The Rocket 455 V8 looks terrific in the engine bay with the chrome valve covers and bright blue on the Olds intake. Plus, underneath the Edelbrock air cleaner is an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. This added power easily fires up with authority and makes a great rumble as it exits out of the dual exhaust (Yup...400+ cubic inches, four-barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust it lives up to the namesake of the 1969 Oldsmobile 4-4-2!) As usual with an Oldsmobile, no matter how much power it's putting down, it still has the luxury of all-day usability. This comes from features such as the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and larger tires that come on the upgraded wheels. This is a real-deal Olds 442 that has been nicely invested to make sure it's both for show and go it even comes with the original owner's manual. So this is the perfect classic ragtop for the collector who not only likes going to the car show, but also driving the long way to get there. Call today!!!
