Plymouth Other 1939 Description
Basically a stock daily driver with a few updated modifications for dependability and safety. Engine - Odometer broken when I bought the car. It runs like a champ. no smoke. plenty of power and idles all day ay 500 RPM. I have completed several 200 mile road trips with out any issues. Carburetion- Single Carter carb removed and 2-Stromberg bxuv single barrels installed on a vintage Fenton intake manifold. Best pre- engineered linkage available installed and adjusted to perfection. Custom cast aluminum air cleaner installed. Carbs were NOS never bolted on a car and updated with ethanol safe rebuild kits. Clutch- New clutch/pressure plate and throw-out bearing. New transmission and motor mounts. Drive shaft- rebuilt front and rear universal joints. Brakes- Brake drums ground true. 4 new wheel cylinders. professionally rebuilt master cylinder. new shoes and brake lines. Car stops as new straight and true. I installed a remote brake fluid reservoir on the fire wall for ease of inspection and maintenance. Electric- 6 volt system using a Optima gel cell battery charged by an alternator. Trouble free system. I rewired the complete car and all circuits pass thru a blade type fuse block located on fire wall. Lighting- All lights work. Have converted headlights to sealed beam and added {what I think are attractive -period correct} directional lights for safety. A high quality directional switch is located on steering column. There are 2 working fog lights on front bumper. [ Allstate lights from Sears] Interior- Needs headliner. door panels . needs seats reupholstered {they are functional and comfortable as they are}Dash-Freshly powder coated with all new Stewart Warner gauges installed. Speedometer and Tach are NOS and work . Fuel gauge not working. positive ground issue. New Stewart Warner sending unit in tank. Fuel System- Tank professionally cleaned. new fuel lines with electric fuel pump. Body- There are some older body repairs that need redoing. all body parts readily available on line. This is a fun. reliable car . My wife and I had a lot of summer plans for it but unfortunately we are not going to be able to enjoy it. Steering- New tie rod ends and professionally rebuilt steering box. Glass- Both windshields new and all 4 vent windows new. Needs vent window rubber seals.
