Plymouth Other 1976 Description

Up for auction is my 1976 PLYMOUTH VOLARE. PREMIER COUPE. It has under 57. 00 original miles. and is 100% original and unrestored. It is SPITFIRE ORANGE. with white interior and Landau vinyl top. The carpeting is black. 1976 was the first year for the VOLARE. Chrysler missed the boat on this one. It was the most recalled vehicle ever. until just recently. This car had all the recalls done. including new front fenders in 1977. If all the recalls were performed on these cars. they became a good car. but the damage was done. and Chrysler couldn't recover. so they discontinued it in 1979. This car was originally purchased new from a local Plymouth dealer here in Vermont on 8/24/76. The original owner put 55. 29 miles on it before selling it on 6/19/02 to her neighbor. That was about 2000 per year. and never in the winter. Owner #2 kept it until 5/9/11. having only put 109 miles on it. bringing it up to 55. 77. He sold it to my neighbor who owned it until 10/9/12. putting only 498 miles on it when he past away. I purchased it from his widow and have enjoyed it ever since. adding another 2000 miles to it. Provenance from day one is included with the car. The first owner was smart enough to save everything. including the original window sticker. total cost $5063. 80). bill of sale. all warranty papers. undercoating warranty. even the temporary cardboard plate she drove it home on. All four owners. and the dealership are within a 50 mile radius. That's the history. now about the car. It has the 318 ci engine. with Torqueflite 727 Automatic transmission. It runs and shifts perfectly. The exterior paint is excellent. with only a few chips as would be expected on a 39 year old car. The landau vinyl top is in perfect condition. and looks like new. All chrome is excellent. with absolutely no rust. There is a dent in the stainless steel trim piece on the left side of the rear window (see pic). Behind the left rear wheel well is an area that has some paint bubbles. the metal is solid. but should have some attention in the next couple of years (see pic). The interior is all like new. from the headliner to the carpeting. and everything in between. The dash padding has no cracks. The AM radio works. as does the clock. The only thing I found not working is the temperature gauge. I put a separate one under the dash. as I do not like to be without working gauges. until I would have the original one repaired. Didn't quite get to it yet. The car runs. stops. and steers like new. It is a pleasure to drive. All the original stickers are under the hood. on the door jambs. and in the trunk. I have taken it to many shows. where it was entered as "Post War. Original". and have won something almost every time. I'm sure there is something I missed here. so please ask questions. I have a low starting bid. with a very reasonable reserve to protect part of my investment. I encourage anyone who's interested in this car to send over your mechanic or appraiser to look it over and drive it. Better yet come by and drive it yourself before bidding. As I am a Federally licensed gun dealer. I will take all. or part of the purchase price in guns. either antique or modern. at retail value. I will require a non refundable deposit of $500. 00 via Pay-Pal within 24 hours of end of sale. The balance due within 14 days by cash or certified funds at time of pick-up. Once paid for. I can store the car up to 30 days if arrangements are made. until you are able to pick it up or arrange shipping.
