Plymouth Barracuda 1974 Description
Note: If you have a 0 rating negative rating or are an international buyer please contact me before bidding.Up for auction is a 1974 Plymouth Barracuda with its original motor and transmission. It came from the factory with a 318 two-barrel engine standard duty torqueflight automatic transmission and the 8 ¾ sure-grip rear end option. It was B5 blue with a white vinyl top and blue interior. It is a column shift with bucket seats and music master AM radio. I have the fender tag both build sheets in good shape the owner’s manual and I had the car professionally decoded as well. The car runs and drives and is currently registered and the transmission was recently rebuilt. The previous owner gave the car its current amateur satin blue paint job and added white stripes. The top was removed at some point and the roof was painted white. The mounts for the chrome trim are still there and I have the trim pieces. Aside from the paint job and keystone aftermarket chrome rims the car for the most part is very original. I believe the carburetor may even be the original Carter. It has typical surface rust underneath for an unrestored muscle car from the northeast but not a rot box by any means. All the body panels are original except the front fenders however I have them and they are included. The only thing that appears to be changed inside is the dash cluster. The build sheet says it should be a rally however it has the standard dash currently in it. The rest of the interior needs the usual restoration… tears in driver’s seat faded panels cracks in dash. The engine sounds good; exhaust includes the original y pipe and is patched up. The brakes work though the light comes on sometimes; I think the rears need to be bled. The previous owner did some body work as well. The frame has been patched on the front driver’s side but it’s not a factory correct repair. If doing a proper restoration it would need to be redone. There are a few rust spots on other areas of the unibody and the rear half is pretty solid. The floor pans have a few small holes but are intact overall and the doors open a close nice and straight. There is some rust starting in the hood hinge areas in the engine bay but the firewall is solid. New trunk extensions were put in at some point but not finished totally on the inside. Rear bumper was sprayed blue and is dinged but it doesn’t affect the tail panel. I have a replacement plastic corner spacer for in front of the bumper a well. The front is still chrome however and I the 74’ bumperettes are in place. Front end has its squeaks and rattles but the car is still a blast to drive and gets a ton of attention. The front tires are new however the 10” wide rears are older and certainly showing their age. This car is a great running driving project that is numbers matching. It is in need of restoration and will be a beautiful barracuda when finished. As I mentioned I have both build sheets plus the current registration however CT does not issue title on antiques so it will come with registration and official bill of sale to transfer ownership. I can assist in getting you a shipping quote just email your zip code an I will respond. The reserve is confidential but please don’t hesitate to contact me with any other questions. Thanks.
