Plymouth Other 1938 Description

Is this 1938 steel body Plymouth really a fully decked-out hot rod for the price of a Toyota Camry?!?! Yup cool can also be affordable.Of course the best place to start with hot rod is a Business Coupe. Moonshiners loved these long trunk machines because the extra storage held the most product. This one is not set up to haul liquor but it is this outlaw performance spirit that makes this coupe so cool even before the rodder upgrades. Plymouth used less chrome than some of their competitors which gives the green paint on this one an uncluttered and more modern appearance. With chrome being used sparingly it really helps it stand out on places like the bumper grille and the specialty wheels 14 inches in the front and 15 inches in the rear help the suspension have a nicer stance. The performance-minded appearance even makes the Plymouth hood ornament look like it has some extra wind in its sails.Inside there is gray cloth tweed that covers nearly everything from the door panels to the carpeting (the trunk even matches too!) The material quality feels good and there are some cool "V" patterns imbedded into the flat panels to give them some extra style. The single-seat bench was upgraded to two buckets but that still won't stop you from sliding over and saying "hi" to your date at the drive-in. There's a full Auto Meter gauge package that includes a speedometer tachometer oil fuel water and voltage all in a perfect straight row. The ideal hot rod is not one that someone had built just because he had the budget. You want a car that looks cool and spent decades in the hands of someone who truly cared. This one certainly has had a lot of time and money invested to do it right and it shows.Powering this green machine is hot rodder's most chosen 350 cubic-inch small block Chevy V8. The reason why it is so often preferred is not just because the motor offers good power in a compact size but also it's a nice base for a host of performance upgrades. This one gets the benefits of an Edelbrock 750 carburetor performance air cleaner chrome steel tubing chrome valve covers and a Holley Intake. Not every one of these helps this coupe go faster but they all make this hot rod's engine bay look amazing. And the TH350 its bolted to puts the ponies down. Another piece that's not often thought about but is important is the electric fan. It makes sure there is less drag on the motor and more power is being put to the road. All of this is capped off with a stout Ford 9-inch rear end. So it's a Plymouth on the outside but it runs the best of the other Detroit companies underneath its skin. This hot rod is the kind of car that turns heads without breaking the bank. So you can be cool and practical...we can even keep that second part the great deal our little secret.
