The 1961 Plymouth Fury Convertible was perhaps the apex of Virgil Exner's styling influence. This extremely rare example may be the best original unrestored survivor on earth. Owned by the same family for nearly 55 years - pampered garaged and methodically maintained its entire life by an owner who was a member of both the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Plymouth Owners Club.This is an actual factory correct "red convertible" with perhaps the finest original die cast and stainless trim available. The former deceased owner spent a quarter of a century obtaining the very best nos trim from across the nation for this car. All of the spare trim parts including a new rebuilt engine and stand (never used nor needed) shop manuals owners manual plus historical records and receipts are included with the sale. The interior was carefully and tastefully covered by period correct seat covers - protecting the original period Chrysler upholstery. The Exner dash panel is complete - all of the gauges work perfectly including the "slide rule" speedometer. the factory door panels and quarter trim are excellent. A recent top black operates perfectly and the whole package is powered by a poly-head big block mopar engine coupled to perhaps the finest automatic conceived: the push button torqueflite. For safety the big Fury has been upgraded to disc brakes for sure straight safe stops. An added bonus: the car was used repeatedly in the Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk Miss America Pageant Parade....leading up to the night of the actual contest.
