Plymouth Road Runner 1973 Description
1973 Plymouth Road Runner GTX, B-body, 2 door coupeThis a rare U-code 73 B-body with the 440 cu. in. HP engine and 727 automatic. Engine and transmission are not original to the car; everything else is original.
In 1973 the GTX was an option available on the Road Runner and the GTX was the only way you could get the 440 engine. There were only 749 GTX's made with the 440 in 73.
Mechanically, this car is in near perfect condition. The engine was rebuilt. It's the HP 440 and has Keith Black pistons, Mopar Purple cam, dual plane intake manifold, windage tray and racing oil pump with 1/2" pickup, hp exhaust manifolds, high torque starter, new radiator, new fuel pump, new sending unit and new 4 bbl carb.
The transmission was rebuilt as well. It's the 727 - has a new torque converter and TransGo shift kit.It has the 8-3/4 Sure-Grip posi rear end with 3.23:1 gears.
The suspension is totally rebuilt with new leaf springs, new front brakes and rotors, new wheels and tires, new steering box, all new bushings, new shocks. Everything was dismantled and completely redone. Just completed the front end alignment and it drives great!
