Plymouth Road Runner 1970 Description
1970 Plymouth Road Runner 2 door hardtop, 383, 3 speed manual floor shift. 3.23 rear axle. Vitamin C orange with black vinyl top and deluxe bench seat interior. It has manual steering and brakes. The factory tach is working but the clock, radio, gas gauge and speedometer are not. The speedometer broke while driving it form Scottsdale to San Diego, supposedly it was the original mileage but can't guarantee it. It has 14" rallye wheels on the front and 15" ones on the rear. This car is a project and needs a full restoration. I bought it in 2003 in Scottsdale Arizona but the car came from El Paso Texas and was supposedly sold new at Dick Poe Chrysler-Plymouth. The previous owner told me he pulled it out of a field and fixed it up. It was repainted but the paint is not great. It also has rust under the vinyl top and needs a new roof skin which are available new. It has rust in the lower quarters, driver's floor, trunk floor, the right side of the cowl and various other spots as seen in the pictures. Frame rails and rest of the floors are solid. There are some areas of bondo where the rust was repaired before and also as dent repair around the left rear wheel opening and a few other areas. It did appear to have a lot of moisture inside the car for a while so there is surface rust under the dash. I haven't driven the car much since I got it and it's mostly been in storage.
It has the original fender tag but the previous owner tossed the broadcast sheet. It has a clear California title in my name and is currently on non-op.
The car runs and drives but has been sitting for a long time. The throwout bearing makes noise at idle. The engine and transmission are the originals. These three speed cars are rare but are easily converted to a 4-speed since they use the same bell housing and driveshaft. I installed factory manifolds and a TTI exhaust system when I first got the car.
Car is sold as is with no warranty. View the pictures and ask questions before bidding. An immediate payment of $500 via PayPal as soon as you win the auction. Full payment due within 10 days.
