Plymouth Road Runner 1970 Description

1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440+6 Hardtop (RM23V0GXXXXXX)

Highlights:

1 of 433 Roadrunner V-code (440+6) hardtops produced for 1970 with the 727 Automatic Transmission.

Has desirable Air Grabber Hood option and hood turn signal lights!

Build date of 7/10/70, which was the second Friday of the final month of production. Usually production for the model year ended on Friday after the second week of the month (as per Galen Goviers’ production code book).

This is likely one of the last 440 Six Barrel Roadrunner’s produced in 1970! Could it be the last one?

Have the original Broadcast Sheet and copy of title from previous owner I purchased from in 1995.

Restoration completed about 15 years ago and still looks fantastic. Always garaged and covered. Driven fewer than 3K miles since completed. Multiple time Mopars at Englishtown show winner, including the last time entered in 2013.

Engine and transmission are NOT numbers matching. All other body numbers match. Vehicle shows 35,610 miles. Previous owner stated that the vehicle sat dormant in garage for many years before he purchased it.

Vehicle retains all original sheet metal and vinyl top! Only small patches were welded in during restoration. Body is super straight and painted in original B-5 Bright Blue Metallic using PPG Deltron Base/Clear and looks fantastic. Engine compartment is detailed to stock appearance, including the correct 2998956 heavy duty 26” radiator. Engine compartment is beautifully detailed and has date coded spark plug wires, alternator and correct hoses and clamps.

Six Barrel carburetors rebuilt and plated by the Holley Custom Shop. Rebuilt and plated wiper motor. Rebuilt power steering gear. Steering column restored by SMS. Correct and fully functional “Air Grabber Hood!”

Grille and headlamp bezels restored by MCRS. Re-chromed front and rear bumpers. NOS exhaust tips.

Black bucket seat interior is beautifully restored. The door panels, dash and instrument cluster restored to new condition by APT instruments. All gauges work, including the clock. Original Seat Belts restored by Ssnake Oyl. Jack assembly restored to new. Dash pad does have one small crack that is barely noticeable.

The Hemi suspension gives the car a great looking stance. Rides on Good Year Eagle GT radials mounted on 15 x 7 front and 15 x 8 rear, reproduction rally wheels with factory center caps and trim rings.

The list goes on. Have loads of receipts to document.

Changes from stock as follows:

Mopar electronic ignition was added to improve performance.

Originally a bucket seat car with a column shift. Was changed to more desirable floor shifted console, using all correct parts.

The rear differential gear ratio was changed from 3.55 to 3.91.

Aftermarket pioneer stereo installed in stock location, with amplifier added in the trunk. Can easily be converted back to stock. All speakers were installed into the factory locations. (No metal was cut) Original radio will come with the car.
