History:
This car began its life in Hamtramck, Michigan, made to Canadian specs. Original owner gave the car a complete nut-and-bolt restoration in 1995, when he added the shaker hood and assembly, along with the rallye dash. The original owner bought this car to race and put very few actual miles on the car. When the rallye dash was added during the restoration, he matched the mileage on the new odometer to the actual mileage of the car. The engine has been completely rebuilt to spec and has very low miles on it. Though not documented, this appears to be a very low-mileage original. Since the complete restoration, this car has not been driven much at all. Current owner has put less than 100 miles on it in the last 10 years. Very clean, top and bottom.
Note:
Build sheet is missing, and the original owner says the car never had one. This car has been gone over with a fine-tooth comb except for under the head liner. Some build sheets have been found under the head liner, but it has not been checked.
Appraisal:
The car was appraised by certified ASA appraiser with Morparr Motors in Detroit in 2007. A copy of that appraisal is available to any interested buyer upon request. The car was rated to be in Number 2 Condition (Fine), a "well-restored original. Also, extremely well-maintained original showing very minimal wear." This car was appraised for $125,000 but our reserve is much less than that, so the buyer is going to get a great deal! Less than 100 miles have been put on this car since the appraisal.
Condition:
Body:
The body is in beautiful condition, solid and straight as an arrow. No rust anywhere, body panels appear to be original, no signs of filler. Paint appears shiny and fresh. Chrome and glass are both very nice. Trunk pan is clean. Red-line front grill is beautiful, no cracks. Though the paint job is 20 years old, it still looks great, well-preserved and cared for.
Under Carriage:
Underneath the car is very clean, no rust, rock solid. Very little road wear, never driven in the rain. Body and floor panels look solid. Tires are in great shape, plenty of tread, low miles. The only blemish appears to be a small rust hole the size of a dime in the muffler.
Interior:
The interior looks nice and clean, upholstery looks fresh, no tears and significant wear. Dash is clean, no splits, no damage. All gauges and instruments work. Radio works. Carpet is nice, very clean. Does have a few blemishes on driver's side door panel and arm rest (see photo).
Engine:
The engine and engine compartment are very clean, no real signs of age or wear. Powder-coated exhaust manifolds are original and correctly date coded. Carburetors are original, matching, and tuned. The engine is turn-key, fires right up, no hesitations. Does not blow smoke or burn oil. Very strong and powerful. Sounds lean and mean.
Road Test:
This car drives beautifully--shifting is tight and smooth, no loose play. Steering is tight, no drift, very straight. Power-assist disc brakes are strong, not mushy. Tested on the track, this car consistently does 14.2 quarter miles at 99 mph. Very fast for an all-stock car.
Delivery:
This car is sold without a warranty "as is" and "where is". Buyer will arrange for delivery, and I will help facilitate whatever arrangements buyer makes.
