This beautiful steel 1933 Plymouth Highboy Roadster is a super nice Street Rod with a history traced back to 1970, and a complete overhaul and restoration done by the previous owner of 14 years in 2010. I was told this was once a 1933 Plymouthfive window coupe body that wascut down into a roadsterwith a 1933 Dodge grill, I don't know. What I do know it has been highly customized into this awesome custom. Please take a moment to read the detailed listing, look over the detailed photos, and thenbid to make it yours before someone else does. THIS VEHICLE HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE INMY POSSESSION. Up for bids is an 1933 Plymouth roadster, that has a style, charm, and class all its own to set it apart from the sea of Fords at the car shows. The prior owner bought the car in 2001, and at that time it was a cool looking build done in the 70’s by Okolona Performance in Louisville, KY. The car was show quality, as the photo shown below will attest, but with the Centerline dish wheels, a tired 400ci motor, unusual flame finish, and a worn white button tuck interior, the car was in need of some upgrades. As happens with cars, you get busy driving and enjoying them, and all the sudden you realize 9 years went past without you changing a thing! That’s what happened here, so in 2009 the prior owner stripped the car down to the last nut and bolt, and spent a year doing it up to be the stunning machine you see in the photos. Once the body was removed from the frame, it was decided that the original rails and suspension was too outdated to save, so the entire rolling chassis was scrapped, and a brand new custom tube chassis was specially designed and fabricated for the car by Schroeder, to make the new car ready for the 21st Century and beyond. As you can see in the build photos, everything was redone in a more modern, unified, and show-quality style where no expense was spared. The four bar unit from Pete & Jakes had its mounts integrated into the frame, along with the mounts for the shocks and polished panhard bar. The Flaming River rack was selected just for the car, so it was seamlessly integrated in as well. Everything affixed to the chassis was selected to go on it, so the mounts and lines, and everything associated with those parts was SPECIFICALLY integrated into the design of the frame. It is beautiful. The work is top quality, and once it was finished, the entire thing got covered in multiple coats of Porsche Guards Red paint. The entire powertrain was scrapped, along with the suspension system, and reassembly began to take place. A brand new GMPP Goodwrench 350ci block was purchased, and the motor was hand built with all new components to create a manageable 330hp engine that didn’t sacrifice power or reliability, and could manage a long-haul as easily as a cruise night. The engine is a 4-bolt main, 2 pc. Seal unit, and was fit with a mild CRANE hydraulic street cam, forged pistons, 8.5:1 compression, 350 ft lbs of torque at @ 3700rpm, powdered metal connecting rods, 76cc heads, and all-new internals and seals. It was fitted with an Edelbrock intake and Edelbrock 1406carb with LOKAR throttle controls, and dressed with show chrome Edelbrock valve covers and custom milled air cleaner with washable filter. A chrome fuel pump, chrome high-torque starter, and tons of other shiny bits keep it looking good, and HOOKER headers connect to Flowmaster style mufflers and custom polished exhaust to help it breathe and bark. The exhaust could use a bit of polishing again before you put it on a show mirror, but it functions GREAT. A custom aluminum radiator is actually overkill for the car, and it does not even come CLOSE to overheating. Hoses, clamps, and all that good stuff is new as of 2010/2011, as are the complete new wiring, harness, and modern fuse units. Braided lines handle most of the fluid transfer on the car, and plugs and plug wires were just done servicing of the car. A complete fluid service was just done. A GM 350 turbo transmission was selected for the car, and was completely rebuilt before being installed in the car. A custom made and balanced driveshaft connects it to the Speedway SUPERMAX Quick-Change 10-BOLT POSI-TRAC rear end currently fitted with 4.11 gears for outrageous fun around town! Swap out some highway friendly units, and this car is ready to go ona cross-country trip. You’ll also note TSM DRIVESHAFT Disc Brake parking brake set-up, which is awesome. 31 spline axles mate to disc brakes out back, complete with polished calipers, hard and braided stainless lines, the Wilwood proportioning valve that is perfectly adjusted to the car, and a Pete & Jakes FOUR BAR unit. Up front, the car got a new Flaming River steering rack, Pete & Jakes show-polished tubular A-Arms, rod ends, and fittings, polished calipers and show plates, and the same combo of hard and braided stainless line used in the rest of the car. Pete & Jakes were also tapped to supply the ALDAN built gas-charged adjustable coil-over shocks sitting at all four corners. They keep the stance just right, and give the car a PERFECT combination of smooth ride and handling prowess. The frame is stout, and is the perfect base for this machine. I can’t imagine you doing anything to break or damage it, and like the rest of the car, it shows only the lightest signs of normal use and enjoyment over the years. Pressure wash and detail the undercarriage, and it would be worthy of a show mirror at any event! Right now, it looks clean and presents well, as you can see in the photos. Inside the car, the original dash was fit with a custom made gauge pod that holds functional gauges for FUEL/TEMP/OIL/VOLTS and a functional Speedometer with odometer that is only about 2 mph slow when compared to GPS. Recently the speedometer and odometer stopped working, I will check to seeif I can find the problem. Odometer shows 722 miles, which is what it has since it was redone in 2010. Dash also has an AM/FM CD player that sounds great through the two speakers hidden under the dash in a custom enclosure. There is also a functional 12V outlet that holds a vintage chromecigar lighter. (The skull one in thepictureshas been removed.) I have removed the stickers on the windshield since the photos have been taken. There are no side windows or side window regulators in the car. Suicide doors work perfectly. The carpet looks brand new, and is marine grade water resistant material professionally banded and installed over layers of sound and heat insulation. The kick panels, door panels, side panels, and seats are all done in medium Camel marine grade leather with red piping and modern pleating, and they look FANTASTIC! There are no rips, tears, or seam pulls on the interior, and it still shows and smells like new leather inside. Seat is super comfy too, and has seatbelts for two passengers as well as some storage area under its base. Billet interior door handles look like new, as does the satin finished rear-view mirror. LOKAR supplied the swan neck shifter arm, and the chrome E-Brake handle, both with decorative mounting plates. E-Brake is not currently functioning. A billet pull on the left side of the dash works the parking and fog lights, with a foot controlled hi-beam switch. The silver switch closest to the driver operates the power trunk lift, and the one on the right is for a power cowl vent the prior owner wanted to do, but never got around to. It would be good for any switchable accessory you want to add down the road. Billet aluminum drops hold the Flaming River tilt steering column, which has billet arms for the tilt and signal controls. There is also a drop mounted TACH that is unobtrusive to the occupants, but easy to see at a glance while driving. A black leather GRANT GT steering wheel is easy to command this machine with, and looks fantastic too. LOKAR spoon gas pedal, and a reworked FORD brake pedal round things out, and the little rubber insert on the brake pedal fell out at some point and has vanished. Easy enough to cut one to fit when you get it home, or just use it like it is. Lift the power trunk, and you’ll find more of the interiors custom banded carpeting and camel leather, all of which is innice condition. Remove the easy-access rear panel, and you will see a NHRA approved aluminum fuel cell with vent that holds 15 gallons, the new (2015) battery, and some of the complete new wiring, harness, fuse system, and other electrical goodies on the car. The fuel cap has a no-spill safety cap you don’t have to remove to use, and it functions as it should. Don’t worry about trunk access should the battery die, because the car has auxiliary charging and jump points under it and a power trunk release wired directly to it. The outside of the car is finished in beautiful Porsche Guards Red, and it looks great. Thecar does have some normal use blemishes and marks on it, some of which will probably disappear when you take the time to detail the car, whichI have not. It is NOT a flawless and perfect finish. The car has small scuff marks, paint chips, cracks, etc. although they really do nottake away from the cars overall presentation. I have puta bunchphotos of the car, and will gladly take more if you need them. PLEASE LOOK AT ALLTHE PHOTOS. I am not trying to hide anything, and try to show every possible angle of a car so you can make the right decision. All of the louvers are hand stamped, and look amazing on the car! They were done in the 70’s into the original sheetmetal. The car has chrome framed red with blue-dot tail lamps with integrated signals, and everything looks and works like it should. Headlamps are giant chrome units, and look and work perfectly too, including high and low beam. Wiring for them is braided stainless and run into the frame itself for a clean and neat look. The chrome side lamps function as the front turn signals now, and look and work great. The side mirror looks good, and has a convex mini mirror to give you a clear view of everything you are passing. Original chrome door handles were kept, and only show a light sign of use and age. They are original to the car. The convertible top is like new and consists of heavy duty canvas custom made for the car off the original top design so it fits perfectly with the chopped windscreen. Rear window is clean and pretty, with only light markings and signs of use. Convertible top frame is the original unit that came with the car, although it was cleaned, blasted, painted, and fit with new hardware. Two latches keep it firmly in place, and two people can drop it in about 20 seconds, and put it up in the same. There are no rips ortears on the top, and it functions as it should. There is a boot for the top, but it is in the original white color, and shows some staining and damage from being kept in the attic for a few years. It would be easy enough to use it to have another made if you want. It rides on gorgeous chrome CRAGAR wheels wrapped in like-new BFGoodrich Radial TA tires size 195/60R15 up front, and 285/70R15 out back. Stance is spot on, and the car looks mean just sitting still! The car starts easily, idles cleanly, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t leak, and doesn’t weep. It is ready to go when you are, and I havedriven the car ona mix of highway and urban driving, and it performs PERFECTLY. The car has a ton of power off the line. It is happy at about 55 mph with the 4.11 gears, but the beauty of the SUPERMAX Quick change is, you can alter that by an easy gear swap to whatever size you want. (The 4.11 gears is the only one I have for it.) I cruise the car often and it rides wonderfully, handles easily, runs perfectly, and does notdo one single funny, weird, or odd thing. It is one of the best running rods I have had the pleasure to drive in a while, and I think whoever gets it will have a blast taking it to shows and events across the country. IT IS TITLED AS A 1933 PLYMOUTH MILEAGE is showing 722 on the functional odometer, but it is being sold as mileage exempt on the title.
