Plymouth Road Runner 1968 Description

This 1968 Plymouth Road Runner is already desirable for distinctive appearance on a first-year muscle car legend. But when you see all the performance upgrades, including a fuel-injected 440 V8 and the four-speed stick, you'll realize that this is one mean green machine. The Avocado Green is the perfect color for any 1960s muscle car. It's a hue that represents the era well, but it's also a modern application with plenty of added shine. The result is a presentation that looks like it's a factory survivor until the sunlight hits it, and then it pops with a luster that will attract attention from a block away. And it's not just the color that gives it this allure. There has been an investment in keeping this car straight with terrific sheetmetal and doors that close with authority. This Road Runner seems to have a meaner attitude with the black performance hood, 440 callouts, and the iconic Cragar SS wheels. But this one still keeps plenty of its cheery charm. The wide B-body design means the chrome bumpers look like a huge grin at both ends on the car, and of course, it wouldn't be a true Plymouth Road Runner without the Warner Brothers bird making a speedy getaway on each door and rear panel. The two-tone green interior pairs well with the color on the outside. Moreover, the pattern on these seats is more intricate than you would expect on a Plymouth. These were midsize muscle cars, but that designation in the '60s means full-size comfort today. So there's plenty of room to have up to five family and friends riding with you. But you don't need any of them to have fun with this Road Runner. It feels like a driver's car from the moment you grab the three-spoke wheel. Ahead of that, the SunPro tach that boldly sits on the steering column. In the middle are auxiliary gauges and a Hurst shifter with line lock. Oh yeah, this one will have your heart racing even before you twist the key and hear it roar.Road Runners are meant to be muscle machines, so it's great to see the engine bay filled with Mopar power. You're looking at a period-correct 440 cubic-inch V8 that has received some great go-fast goodies. They include a FAST fuel-injection system, Holley Street Dominator intake, and the wicked growl of a Flowmaster dual exhaust. And you are in complete control of all of this big block power and its thunderous soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. And while this has enough power and poise to turn the cute cartoon character into a snarling beast, you have also been given the right control. Power steering, BF Goodrich T/As, and upgraded Wilwood front disc brakes are a terrific total package to make this a fine cruiser.Complete with maintenance records, Road Runners are now an icon of how Plymouth made the muscle car available to the everyman. The horn might still go "Beep! Beep!" but the rumble this one makes going down the road means this is no kid's show. Call today!!!
