Pontiac GTO 1965 Description
The rarest of the rare. That's what makes this 1965 Pontiac GTO so attractive. Yes rarity, and the fact that this beautiful burgundy coupe has an upgraded 400 cubic-inch V8 and four-on-the-floor.The GTO came in three body styles, and the pillared coupe is by far the rarest. With 8,319 produced they made one of these for every six pillarless coupes that came off the line. And you just thought this was desirable for the awesome metallic burgundy paint! But you can really tell the investment went well beyond the color to make sure the body was looking its best, and the big chrome bumpers shine like mirrors. As you get up close, the details are right, too. The new-for-1965 vertical stack headlights shine like jewels; all the trim is straight; correct GTO badging is on the front, rear, and fenders; and the intricate tail panel is complete. The whole package sits redline tires and Rallye I wheels for the perfect period-correct muscle car finishing touch. There's more evidence of quality care and maintenance the moment you lay eyes on the bucket seats. They are crisp right down to the correct arrowhead emblem embossed into each one. Matching door panels with correct GTO emblems and deep dark carpeting make this a true classic muscle car experience. Aiming for a more European feel in the GTO, Pontiac designers gave it a wood-grained dashboard with the round rally gauge cluster. Your left hand will love the thin woodgrained three-spoke steering wheel connected to power steering, and your right one will likely never leave the Hurst shifter. Plus, a nice jet age center console does a great job of uniting the feeling of premium and performance together in one package.Another great upgrade is under the hood. That's a 400 cubic-inch V8 filling the engine bay. GTOs would have to wait until the '67 to get this kind of displacement, but this one has been enhanced to be a true fire-breathing second-year Goat. But the upgrades don't stop there. It's been enhanced for the car show with pieces like the chrome valve covers; and of course, no one can miss the performance upgrades like the bold Tri-Power carb setup. This tiger loves to growl. That's why it fires up easily and makes a wicked rumble out of the dual exhaust. Best of all, you can make this exhaust truly sing thanks to the complete control of the four-speed manual transmission. Complete with plenty of documentation, including the Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) report, you're looking at a rare body with a fierce heart. The GTO started the segment, and the only thing better than owning the granddaddy of all muscle cars is owning one with added distinction. Call now!!
