Pontiac Grand Prix 1962 Description

1962Pontiac Grand Prix
VIN: 96203462
Condition: High driver with drivability issue.
389 303hp, Roto Hydramatic, PS, PB (no AC from factory).Tach works. Indicates 2950 rpm at 75 mph.
Some of the things done:
New paint (most trim removed, - doors trunk and hood removed).
New custom made dash pad.
New carpet.New door and trunk seals.New trunk carpet.
New dual exhaust.
New brakes including lines.
New fuel tank and sender.New fuel pump.
Rear bumper re-chromed ($1500).
5 new tires.
All fluids and filters replaced.
New plugs, plug wires and points.
New hoses and belts.
New radiator.
An extremely nice GP, that has had a whole lot done, but has these issues:
Major issue: Will not hold idle. Even though new fuel tank, sender, fuel pump, fuel hoses and filters - Have to baby idle with throttle to avoid shut down. That is the reason I am selling. I can not trust the new generation part changers to do old school repair. True old school mechanics are hard to find. All the mechanical work shown above was done by me but I am perplexed by the idle situation. Carb?
As was normal back in the day, engine is starting to exhibit some blowby at 72k - still runs strong. (This car is obviously worth the price even without the engine).
Wipers just quit?
AM radio lights up but does not work.
Steering wheel could use being replaced or refurbished. Steering is tight and steers well, but steering wheel has some up and downwobble on the hub (like a worn water pump). Lost some bushing that keeps it from being tight on the hub. Not to worry, not coming off (steering is tight with no play).
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am takingit on this one. My bath, your gain.
