Pontiac Grand Prix 1968 Description

1968 Pontiac Grand Prix for auction. This is a very solid driver quality Grand Prix. It is Aleutian Blue with Parchment (Pearl) bucket seat interior. Console with 8-Track. Original #'s matching XH 400 cubic inch 4 bbl. and correct turbo 400 transmission. The rear is a 2. 73 open. (original as far as I can tell). Drum brakes (all rebuilt including: shoes. master. cut original drums and wheel cylinders). brand new original style exhaust not yet installed. new sill plates not yet installed. new wood inserts for console and 8-Track not yet installed. new complete Comp Cams mild cam kit not yet installed (including springs. locks. timing chain lifters and push rods). Complete Fel Pro gasket kit not yet installed. Power steering pump rebuild kit. hoses and new gear box not yet installed (they both leaked horribly). American Racing rims are older. but descent as well as the tires. I bought this car locally as it was sitting and not being driven. A college student was left this by his uncle and had started taking things apart. but lost interest. thank God. I got it running and drove it around before realizing it leaked everything. The easiest way to fix things was pull the motor. re-gasket it. paint the engine bay and put it all back together. When I pulled the motor. I found a couple bent pushrods and decided to do the right thing and buy a top end kit and install hardened seats. I broke down the engine to the short block. installed a new oil pump and shaft. cleaned everything and bought a whole bunch of new parts. THE ENGINE IS NOT IN THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY. EVERYTHING IS BAGGED. TAGGED AND BOXED. In the middle of all this. I became ill and have too much on my plate. My loss is your gain. This car is a motor away from being a great driver. The interior had mildew on the carpet. so I pulled it all out and restored the console. I was about to recover the seats and install new carpet when I found the pushrod issue. I decided to focus on the mechanicals and wait to finish the interior. I rebuilt the brakes with a new master. wheel cylinders. and shoes. I had all the original drums cut and the system is good to go. I replaced the U-joints and had the shaft balanced. I had an original exhaust made by a fellow ebayer who specializes in original exhausts. I have an extra set of Strato buckets with B Body brackets included and one extra door panel. This car is very clean. straight and original. It is gorgeous in the color combination. The bad things are the front bumper is in need of refinishing. there are some chips. scratches in the paint. The door panels need to be replaced. the carpet needs to be replaced and front seat need recovering. The interior needs finishing. the engine needs finishing and it needs a new home. It is a motor and carpet/ seat covers away from being a great summer cruiser. This motor ran very strong and shifted great. The trans is tight. The hide away lights work and definitely make this car. The rear bumper is very nice and looks like a '70 GTO. I have had complete strangers come to my house and ask me about the sweet GTO in the driveway. When I tell them it is a GP. everyone is shocked. It really does look like an oversized GTO. This color combination is very desirable. Feel free to ask questions. I am an Oldsmobile guy by trade. but I will do my best to answer them. I have all receipts for the equipment I have bought for the car. Bid with confidence. I have described this to the best of my ability. It is a nice car in need of someone with more time than me. I will add better. current pics with all the parts tomorrow. I am posting pics of when I bought it last fall. I had them on my work computer. I just want to get it listed today.
