Pontiac Trans Am 1979 Description

The last year for the Pontiac 400 in a Trans Am and it was only available with the 4-speed! RARE! One of 2. 85 Trans Am's built with the Pontiac 400 and no t-tops. PHS documented Pontiac 400 W72 option with the Borg Warner Super T-10 4-speed transmission and 3. 23:1 posi from the factory. The W72 was Pontiac's high performance engine for 1979 with special heads. cam shaft. chrome moly upper compression rings and satin chrome valve covers. The engine is the correct "PWH" code and the serial number matches the vin on the car. The engine is strong with no lifter ticks or valve clatter. I was told it had been rebuilt around 2000 miles ago but I have no receipts to back it up. Also equipped with the WS6 handling package with 4 wheel disc brakes and 8" snowflake rims. The TA still has its original rare Atlantis blue paint. This is a very desirable color and looks fantastic restored with a blue deluxe interior that originally came with this car. Being a survivor with original paint. you can see this is a solid car with no rust issues. The paint is not perfect. has scratches and fading you'd expect from a 36 year old car. It has the following body imperfections. The front bumper has a dent that also dented the hood and bent the front fenders. Nothing that can't be fixed but it does have damage. The trunk lid has a crease on it as well. The rest of the body has a few dings and scratches but nothing major. The trunk. floor and frame rails are solid. There's one small hole in the rear tail section. The interior dash has two cracks in it. The seats are good except the driver side has a rip where the seat belt connects and it needs a headliner. Note: this is a standard Trans Am interior in the car but it originally came with the deluxe custom interior. It needs to have the choke worked on as it doesn't idle well when it's cold. The air conditioner compressor is off the car. but it appears to be all there and goes with the car. The tires are in good shape as are the 8" snowflake rims. The exhaust sounds ok but really needs to be changed to the stock version. This is a nice car for a restoration or drive around as a work in progress survivor. The reserve is set at a fair price for such a solid rare car. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. Thank you for your interest.
