Pontiac GTO 1965 Description

This might just be the coolest GTO we've ever featured. We've offered a lot of resto mods, ut few have captured the pure Pontiac essence and transformed it into a 21st century warrior like this 1965 Pontiac GTO 2-door. Offering Pontiac power, odern conveniences, nd one of the slickest paint jobs we've seen in a long time, his is the GTO for the guy who loves Pontiacs but doesn't need them to be stock.Basic black always works and in the case of this slick resto-modded Goat, t's the only logical choice. The 2-door post cars don't get much love, ut it's hard to imagine this one any other way and you quickly overlook that detail once you see the incredible bodywork. A few trim pieces have been shaved, ost notably the door handles and the window surrounds, ut the rest remains unmistakably Pontiac, rom the stacked headlights that were new for 1965 to the beautifully blacked out taillight lenses. In fact, here's not much on this car that isn't black, nd to get it to look that good required a lot of time, lot of money, nd a lot of talent. But the results speak for themselves and you get a car that demands attention everywhere it goes. All of the original GTO emblems remain in place, lbeit also blacked out, nd they left the bumpers and grille surround in chrome, ust to add a little contrast. It works extremely well, aking this a fantastic-looking GTO.The interior does the same kind of magic by taking the stock look and tweaking it just a little bit. Standard Pontiac buckets with diagonal seat covers are familiar, ut they've been stitched in supple black leather rather than vinyl and include a bright red Pontiac chevron in the centers. Cool, ight? There's also a custom center console housing a trio of auxiliary gauges and a pair of vents for the Vintage Air HVAC system, s well as the Lokar shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The main instruments are standard GTO with nicely restored faces in a flashy engine-turned panel, s original. It also includes a custom tilt column with leather-wrapped wheel that looks strangely familiar, s well as a powerful AM/FM/iPod stereo system that sounds fantastic. Workmanship is extremely impressive, s even the trunk is fully finished for a very clean look.Don't worry, ontiac fans, here's still Poncho power under the hood, n this case a 421 cubic inch V8 that's a remarkably tidy fit. The firewall has been smoothed, hich undoubtedly helps, ut the rest looks like it belongs there. Obviously everything is new, rom the accessory drive to the Edelbrock intake to the cool blacked-out valve covers, s well as all the engine's internals. A roller camshaft with gear drive gives it a distinctive sound and the lightweight aluminum heads keep this big engine in a welterweight class, o handling is sharp. A giant BeCool aluminum radiator and electric fans keep it cool and things like power steering and 4-wheel power disc brakes from Baer are included. Long-tube headers and a pair of Flowmasters provide just the right tone and the suspension is upgraded with global West A-arms, pgraded shocks, nd a Hotchkiss rear setup. 3.73 gears on a Posi in the 10-bolt rear end give it explosive acceleration but with overdrive, t's an easy highway driver. Classic Torque Thrust wheels are the right choice and wear 17-inch Kumho radials.Expertly built and deadly fast, his awesome GTO lives up to the legend in every possible way and will make onlookers stay for a second and even a third look. Like I said, e've never featured one that was nicer. Call today!
